It’s about celebration. These little indulgences become memories that last and it makes them remember their childhoods fondly. Make the sweet recipes for kids listed below and gift the young ones the sweetness of life they truly deserve!

1. Mini Gulab Jamun

Gulab jamun is a beloved Indian dessert, and these mini versions are perfect for kids to enjoy in bite-sized form.

Ingredients:

  • 200 gm gulab jamun mix
  • 200 ml water
  • 500 ml oil for frying
  • 200 gm sugar
  • 200 ml water (for sugar syrup)
  • 1-2 cardamom pods, crushed (optional)

Procedure:

  1. In a bowl, mix the gulab jamun mix with water as per the package instructions to make a soft dough. Roll the dough into small balls, around half the size of regular gulab jamuns, as they will expand when frying.
  2. Heat oil in a deep pan on medium heat. Fry the gulab jamun balls in batches until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
  3. For the syrup, mix the sugar, water, and cardamom pods in a saucepan. Bring it to a boil, then let it simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Soak the fried gulab jamuns in the warm sugar syrup for 20-30 minutes before serving. These mini gulab jamuns are perfect for little hands and make for a sweet bite-sized treat.

2. Rainbow Fruit Smoothie

Colorful, nutritious, and easy for kids who love a fruity, refreshing drink.

Ingredients:

  • 100 gm strawberries
  • 100 gm mangoes
  • 100 gm blueberries
  • 100 gm pineapple chunks
  • 100 gm yogurt
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 100 ml milk (optional, for consistency)

Procedure:

  1. Blend each fruit separately with a little yogurt and honey.
  2. Layer the smoothie in clear glasses, starting with strawberries, then mango, pineapple, and blueberries, to create a rainbow effect. Kids will love the colors, and they can mix the smoothie together before drinking. If it’s too thick, add a bit of milk for a smoother consistency. Or you could make an Oreo Shake.

3. No-Bake Chocolate Biscuit Cake

A fuss-free cake that doesn’t require baking, this chocolate biscuit cake is a perfect DIY treat for kids.

Ingredients:

  • 200 gm digestive biscuits, broken into small pieces
  • 100 gm chocolate, melted
  • 50 gm butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp Cadbury cocoa powder
  • 50 ml milk
  • 1 tbsp sprinkles (optional, for decoration)

Procedure:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the melted chocolate, butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and milk until smooth. Add the broken biscuits and stir until evenly coated.
  2. Press the mixture into a lined baking tin, smoothing the top with a spatula. Refrigerate for at least two hours, then slice and serve.
  3. Kids can help break the biscuits and press the mixture into the tin, making this recipe fun and easy. Or you could make a Chocolate Tart. A chocolate tart is everyone’s darling and oh-so-good to dig into. Afterall, a fine chocolate tart has the power to uplift any celebration.

4. Coconut Ladoo Pops

A classic Indian sweet turned into “ladoo pops” for a fun twist!

Ingredients:

  • 200 gm grated coconut (plus extra for rolling)
  • 150 gm condensed milk
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 20 wooden skewers or lollipop sticks

Procedure:

  1. In a bowl, mix the grated coconut, condensed milk, and cardamom powder until well combined.
  2. Roll the mixture into small balls, then roll each ball in extra grated coconut for a snowy finish.
  3. Insert a skewer or lollipop stick into each ladoo. These “ladoo pops” are easy to hold, fun to eat, and capture the essence of traditional Indian sweets with a playful twist.

5. Mini Fruit Tarts

These bite-sized tarts are colorful, customizable, and a fun project for young chefs.

Ingredients:

  • 150 gm mini tart shells (store-bought)
  • 200 gm cream cheese, softened
  • 50 gm powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Assorted fruit (berries, kiwi, mango, etc.)

Procedure:

  1. In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Spoon a bit of the cream cheese mixture into each tart shell.
  3. Arrange a few pieces of fruit on top of each tart. Kids can get creative with the fruit arrangements, creating little patterns or faces on each tart.
  4. Chill the tarts before serving for a refreshing treat.
