Teenage dramas tend to not age well nor did The Vampire Diaries, but it's still nostalgic and a great throwback especially when we get to talk about desserts, read on!

Dark Forest Cake to Brownies, Which Vampire Diaries Characters is Which?

An overdone trope with a tiresome lead, always a graveyard, awkward zoom-ins, and fabulous songs which are added just for the heck of it, you'd think vampires would stop hiding in forests and waterfalls and stop chasing teens, but no. Ironically you even find Damon mentioning the cringier Twilight in season 1. So, here we are with perhaps the most raved-about vampire series, The Vampire Diaries. We're gonna reimagine them as desserts and have a little fun here.

1. Red Velvet Cake – Elena

She is the cringe of teenage novels and perhaps a distant cousin of Bella Swan from Twilight, who actually took some acting lessons. Everyone wants to be her, because she's the protagonist and a doppelganger, resembling the Original Vampire Tatia, and also Katherine, a major character in the series. She's definitely a trouble magnet because of this and somehow her character leaves much to be desired. So, a red velvet cake for the character with a blinking danger sign on her forehead. We do recommend that you try a simple red velvet cake recipe if you adore Elena.

2. Tiramisu – Stefan

Too smart for his own good, this fangled bat with a high ‘moral ground’ is driven and shown as a bittersweet character with a hot and cold personality, because he's a troubled character, a former ripper, who abstains from his former lifestyle kind of like a hermit, at least he tries. The espresso in the tiramisu hints at his murky past and the mascarpone cheese at the sweetness he experiences after meeting Elena, who resembles his ex, very problematic but he does experience mirth beyond her so that's a win too.

3. Dark Forest Cake – Damon

A rebel vampire with a devilish streak he starts as an antagonist who reforms in time and becomes Elena’s endgame. So, a dark forest cake, which is technically another colloquial term for the Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, or Black Forest Cake. It hints at the good and bad in Damon and his complicated past with his brother who despite being related by blood let a girl get between them, and as luck would have it she was a rabid vampire who started out as a witch. If you haven’t watched the series, let the cringe consume you and let Damon surprise you with his occasional sweetness, just like a bite into a slice of the OG Black Forest Cake does.

4. Reform Torta – Caroline

Perhaps only teens should watch this series, because as an adult the series feels so vapid, and Caroline starts out as an absolute ringleader of the pick-me club and her obsession with finding love knows no bounds, at least initially, it is kind of hard to imagine how she’s friends with Elena or even Bonnie for that matter. In waltzes in the vampires, she loses her head, and seeks fulfillment from men of all people, forgetting about everything. She does change eventually, but the whole storyline is well… messed up and makes you wonder if you should be happy for her or rail hasn't the missed potential for actual character development. She does turn into a vampire, and is a nut, so a walnut layered cake from Serbia for this queen.

5. Brownie – Bonnie

Coming from a historic line of witches in Salem, it turns out she is one after all despite her half-joking about it initially. The brownie is one of the easiest desserts to make, in fact, you should try an easy brownie mug cake recipe. Bonnie is a powerful witch which she comes to learn in time and learn how to use her powers to the point of being selfless in using them to protect her family and friends. She goes through a lot of trials and tribulations alongside the vampires and a smattering of other disruptive characters and remains the last of her kind in her witch bloodline.

6. Rum Baba – Klaus

Niklaus is an ancient vampire with severe daddy issues that shows in his frequent angry outburst. He is the sire to innumerable vampires including having ties to all of the above vampires. We might go easy on him in “The Originals” article but in this series, he is nothing but a demented, manipulative beast. Look up French dessert names and you'll find the rum baba or baba au rhum, hiding somewhere, lurking like Niklaus Mikaelson, surprising you with his wounded being, like the first bite of this rum-soaked dessert.

7. Devil's Food Cake – Katherine

Most of the characters are troubled and somehow the show manages to bring it out. Katherine is the fallen Roman Empire of the whole series and she seems to be the root cause of many plot twists and complexities in the series. A sinfully delightful Devil's Food Cake for the ancient witch who is one of the Petrova doppelgangers. Look up a layered moist chocolate cake recipe and you’ll find Devil’s Food Cake among them. It is a yummy chocolate cake that might get you hooked just like how Katherine’s presence is vital to the show.
