Dragon Ball Z characters as desserts

Dragon Ball Z is one of those anime that many of us grew up with but it stretched so long that some of us are still clueless as to what happened in the end. No spoilers for that, and instead we’ll have a little fun here. Of course, to cater to the West and the rest of the world some amount of censorship came in that made Dragon Ball Z a semi-hilarious watch. We had a little fun and

1. Vanilla Ice Cream – Goku

For some reason, the authentic Japanese anime (or their manga parent for that matter) love putting foolish people as the lead. Goku is no exception, a Saiyan (warrior) with more brawn than brains. Most of what we see in Goku is in your face and anything hidden from the audience gets dropped as enough hints, whether subtle or not so subtle. Goku wants to be the strongest but not at the cost of innocent lives being lost, which makes him a hero. Goku is quite a straightforward guy that way, for him, a vanilla ice cream is fitting, for this reason.

2. Chocolate Souffle – Vegeta

Anger issues begin with this Saiyan as he battles with Kakarot (Goku) for the number 1 spot of being the strongest Saiyan. The best part of Vegeta is he’s the prince of the fallen Saiyan race and straddles the rope between being one of the protagonists and the villain. That automatically makes him an egotistical jerk, there’s a tragic backstory, but still, despite all this, he manages to bag Bulma and has his family with her. That makes him a chocolate souffle with his puffed up chest like a peacock and

3. Lava Cake – Gohan

Funnily named “meal” or cooked rice for some reason (his grandfather had the same name), Gohan is Goku’s son and was born with a tail, just like his dad. He does grow out the tail and eventually the fun little toddler grows up to be a sensible adult with the same gentle heart and personality as his dad. He’s devoted to family and quite scholarly and the smart nut in the family and like Vegeta, in his Saiyan form, he too has suffered the side effect of being drunk in power, perhaps which is why he dislikes fighting unless absolutely necessary. This kind of reminds one of a chocolate lava cake with Gohan’s put together self the outer cake and his Saiyan heritage the molten inside, that shows up when he deems it necessary.

4. White Chocolate Mousse – Frieza

The tyrannical ruler of Universe 7, he’s behind the dying out of the Saiyan race and each time, he seems to become even more powerful, every time he makes his return. A white chocolate mousse was an intentional pick for the mechanical looking reptilian alien antagonist to match his white-ish appearance. It matches how he looks, but also the pristine white reflects his cool and calculated exterior, while the rich, layered flavor represents his multifaceted and manipulative personality that is a pain for Goku and his allies with whom he keeps clashing.

5. Chocolate Chip Cookie – Krillin

Remember the nervous kid running around beside Goku with dots (burns) on his foreheads resembling the stars on the dragon balls? That’s Krillin who trained alongside him under Master Roshi and loves martial arts. He’s BFFs with Goku and although not a Saiyan, he is quite deft in fighting and is the comic relief in many scenes. For this dedicated simpleton a chocochip cookie is perfect and like a freshly baked batch of them have a mouth watering aroma, Krillin who looks noseless, perhaps is, he is said to have an impeccable sense of smell, using his skin to do so.

6. Blueberry Cheesecake – Bulma

Perhaps the only normally named character in her family, the rest of whom are named after underpants, she eventually marries Vegeta and has two kids with him. She’s an engineer with blue hair, who made us pick blueberry cheesecake, in particular for her, with her being paired with Vegeta and still remaining sweet as ever. She’s great friends with Goku too and quite a presence in the whole anime, of course, like Chi-Chi, Goku's wife.

7. Tres Leches Cake – Master Roshi

This chilled-out master is always in his Hawaii shirt and polaroid sunglasses, the latter with a shine as unmissable as his bald head. He’s an unmissable character and when one gets tired of the fights, one can always count on Master Roshi to draw a chuckle out of the watchers. He’s the God of martial arts, and what makes comedy is his perverted self that is often seen chilling around on rocks or lounge chairs, sunglasses on and a smoking pipe in his hand. For the chill master who is integral to the show and the leads, we picked the best Mexican desserts out there– Tres Leches cake, which is just perfect with its rich milky taste, symbolic of the master’s deep knowledge despite his perversions.
