With a super catchy opening song and fun spelled out in every slide, Phineas and Ferb was a summer vacation cartoon show, where else would you bathe a monkey, fight a mummy, or drive your sister insane? We picked this entertaining cartoon, while the Disney paradigm was still parked in fun, and turned some amusing characters into desserts! Need we say more? Of course we do, read the yap and make, bake, or order desserts for yourself for nostalgia’s sake.
This nacho-faced little kid has red hair and takes the lead in conjuring up fun creations in his home’s backyard alongside his bro and BFF Ferb. Something his sister keeps snitching on to their mom, but of course, he’s never discovered. A sundae is perfect for his character, as a sundae is as creative and customizable as his invents and both are extremely fun. Just as Phineas brings joy to Danville, an ice cream sundae brings a smile to anyone who sees it.
Ferb is the quiet kid and best friend of Phineas, always present to assist him in his many engineering projects. He has an understated brilliance, just like a lemon tart’s filling that has a sharp and different taste to it but is quite loved by those who love citrus flavors, added to that it also represents Ferb’s occasional zingy one-liners. The crust of the lemon tart represents his solid, dependable nature and these traits are exactly how he landed one of Candace’s friends, the badass Vanessa, also the daughter of the villain.
One of the themes of the show was for the two friends to drive their sister Candace nuts. Candace is sweet but as the two boys get madder with vacation boredom, Candace jumps on the whining bandwagon of complaining to their mom about their antics. A crème brûlée is the epitome of her personality – smooth and sweet on the inside, but with a hard shell that the boys keep cracking by doing things that would get them scolded. Weirdly, they are never caught.
Disney did something right with the animals in most of their shows and in Phineas and Ferb, Perry the teal platypus with an orange tail, is a secret agent. He’s a mint chocolate chip ice cream, which is lowkey like the secret agent of desserts – cool, refreshing, and full of surprises. Nobody but Dr Doofenshmirtz finds out about his identity and of course, his employer. Just as Perry seamlessly switches between his pet self and secret agent, this ice cream somehow perfectly balances two flavors.
A lovable villain who just tries to be a doting father to his only daughter, Doofenshmirtz is quite something, as his day job is being a villain and fighting with Perry the Platypus, Phineas’ pet, and an undercover agent and ironically Ferb is his daughter’s boyfriend. He’s a trifle, a chaotic dessert that is a masterpiece, much like his inventions. The layers of cake, custard, and fruit in the trifle represent the various machines and the jumbled appearance mirrors his often confusing schemes. His backstory being a mix of tragedy and comedy, is just a trifle, like his story, blends many flavors seamlessly.
Vanessa is a dark chocolate tart that is sophisticated, edgy, and unapologetically intense – just like her. The rich, bittersweet flavor represents her cynical and mild-mannered personality, while the smooth, glossy surface reflects her cool demeanor, very much like Ferb. Sometimes chocolate tarts have a hidden layer of caramel or fruit, that symbolizes the softer side she rarely shows. This sleek dessert is perfect for a girl who's both the daughter of an evil scientist and a fashion-forward teen, balancing darkness and sweetness in every bite.
Isabella is the polar opposite of Vanessa and cupcakes represent her sweet, charming, and polite personality quite well. Each cupcake is baked in separate pockets and perfectly baked, much like her Fireside Girls patches, add little pink frosting in the shape of bows to match her signature bow and pink outfit. The different flavors that cupcakes come in also represent her many talents, while the sprinkles on top symbolize her cute personality. Did we mention she is always ready to help Phineas with his latest project, well of course, she’s his girl. So why not try an easy cupcake recipe for yourself?
A typical high school musical jock, Jeremy is also Candace’s boyfriend, but unlike her, he loves participating in the two brothers’ Big Ideas. But despite this the couple barely has any clashes, so, a chocolate chip cookie is the perfect embodiment of his classic warmth and charming personality. He’s the lead in his band named after him, and just like him a chocolate chip cookie is warm, comforting, and universally loved (him being a band and all), and it also mirrors his easy-going personality. Do try an eggless chocolate cookies recipe as you rewatch this beloved long gone summer vacation show.
