Savory dips are a thing as chocolate fondue, but have you tried sweet dips featuring fruits? We’ve got 3 ingredient desserts or rather fruit dips that you can eat with plain cookies, toasted bread, or crackers or dip the tangier fruits like strawberries and grapes. You can serve these at your fondue parties for those who don’t like chocolate, if you are expecting healthy, you will have to experiment and make substitutions, as most of these fruit dips have sugar in them.
1. Mango Coulis
Ingredients
- 400 gm fresh or frozen mango (approx 2-3 mangoes)
- 20 ml lime juice, from 1 small lime
- 30 gm caster sugar
Instructions:
- If using fresh mango, peel and slice it into small cubes and put them into a small pot. If using frozen mangoes, thaw them completely before using them.
- Add the caster sugar and lime juice to the pot with the mango. Stir to combine all ingredients.
- Cook on low to medium heat for about 10-15 minutes. The fruit should become very soft and start to fall apart. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
- Remove the pot from the stove and let the mixture cool for about 5 minutes.
- Using an immersion blender, blend the cooked fruits until very smooth. This process will take a few minutes of blending to achieve a very smooth, thick sauce.
- Once blended, taste the coulis and adjust the sweetness or acidity by adding a little more sugar or lime juice if needed.
- Optional: To get a very smooth and thinner sauce, strain the coulis through a mesh sieve to remove any solid bits.
- Allow the coulis to cool down completely, then transfer it to a sealed jar or container. Keep it in the refrigerator for up to a week.
2. Strawberry Yogurt dip
Ingredients
- 150 gm fresh strawberries, sliced
- 250 gm strawberry yogurt
- 225 gm cream cheese, room temperature
Instructions
- Puree the strawberries in a food processor or a blender until smooth.
- In another bowl, whip the cream cheese and yogurt until well blended. Use a hand-held mixer for best results.
- Stir in the strawberry puree until evenly distributed in the mixture.
- Refrigerate the dip for a minimum of 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and texture to set.
- Serve chilled with fresh fruit.
3. Pina Colada Dip
Ingredients
- 225 gm cream cheese, softened
- 120 ml cream of coconut
- 120 ml pineapple juice
- 225 gm whipped cream
Instructions
- Beat cream cheese until smooth and creamy in a big bowl.
- Add in your cream of coconut and pineapple juice. Stir everything together until it's smooth and creamy.
- Fold the whipped cream into the mixture until evenly combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Chill in the refrigerator for about an hour to thicken a little before serving.
4. Blueberry Dip
Ingredients
- 125 gm fresh blueberries
- 75 gm caster sugar
- Pinch of ground cinnamon
- 100 gm soft cheese
- Lemon juice, to taste
- Strawberries, for dunking
Instructions
- Put the blueberries, sugar, and cinnamon in a small saucepan with 15 ml of water.
- Cook over a gentle heat for 5 minutes, until the blueberries start to break down and the sugar dissolves. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Remove from heat and leave to cool completely.
- Put the soft cheese into a small blender and blend until smooth.
- Add the cooled blueberry mixture to the soft cheese and pulse until smooth and well combined.
- Taste the mixture and add a splash of lemon juice if needed to balance the sweetness.
- Serve the dip with fresh strawberries for dunking.
- This dip can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
5. Creamy Orange Dip
Ingredients
- 115g cream cheese, at room temperature
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 55 gm caster sugar
- 60 ml freshly squeezed orange juice
- 60 ml whipping cream
Instructions
- Add cream cheese, vanilla extract, and the orange zest to a medium bowl.
- Beat on medium speed with a hand mixer until smooth. You can also use a stand mixer with a paddle attachment.
- Add sugar a little at a time, mixing after each addition until fully mixed.
- Pour in the orange juice, then beat until smooth and well combined. Then add the whipping cream to the mixture.
- Continue to beat with the mixer until thick and creamy, about 1 minute. The texture should be smooth and uniform.
- Transfer the dip to a serving bowl or storage container.
- Keep tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days before serving.
- Serve chilled with fresh fruit, cookies, or crackers.
