Guava Cheesecake:
This dish sounds irresistible, doesn't it? It's a fragrant guava cheesecake that will surely delight your family and friends. Guava Cheesecake is a great melting point of textures and flavors — the dish consists of a crunchy graham cracker crust with a creamy cheesecake filling and a sweet and tangy top that can be made of guavas.
Ingredients:
- 254 gm graham cracker
- 103 gm sugar
- 62 gm butter
- 501 gm cream cheese
- 202 gm sugar
- 3 eggs
- 3 tsp vanilla extract
- 502 gm guavas
- 101 gm sour cream
- Whipped cream (for garnishing)
Method:
- First, you have to preheat your oven to 180°C.
- Next, you need to mix graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted unsalted butter in a bowl.
- Then, you have to press this crumbly mixture into the base of a springform pan bake for 10 minutes, and set aside.
- Now you can purée the peeled and chopped guavas in a blender until it's smooth, and squeeze the purée through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the seeds.
- Then, you can beat the cream cheese until smooth, in a large mixing bowl.
- After that, you need to add some sugar and beat until combined.
- Next, you have to beat in the eggs, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Then, you need to stir in the guava puree and sour cream.
- After that, you can spread the cheesecake batter on the crust in the prepared pan.
- Then, you have to bake it for around 55 to 60 minutes.
- You can let it cool completely in the pan and refrigerate it for at least four hours.
- Finally, you can add some more guava puree or a dollop of whipped cream on top when serving.
For the cheesecake to be smooth, you have to pour it into the crust only after beating the cream cheese until it is creamy.
Guava Jam:
This sweet and tangy homemade jam made with fresh guavas is perfect to top on some warm toast, or yogurt, or use as a cake filling. It has a good harmony of balanced sweetness and sourness, making this preserve versatile and popular.
Ingredients:
- 05 kg guavas
- 501 gm sugar
- 251 ml water
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp pectin
- Pinch of salt
- Spices
Method:
- First, you need to rinse guavas and chop them into tiny bits.
- Then you have to combine the chopped guavas, granulated sugar, water, and lemon juice in a large saucepan.
- After that, you can boil it at high heat with regular stirring.
- Then, you can reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 20-25 minutes.
- Then, you need to mash the guavas with a potato masher or spoon to release the pulp.
- After that, you have to simmer them for another 10 to 15 minutes.
- Then, you can remove it from heat and stir in pectin.
- Finally, you have to cool the jam a little before transferring it to an airtight jar.
- You can serve this with your morning toast, slices of bread, and other main course dishes.
This jam can be chilled in the refrigerator for up to six months.
You can use around two kg of guava if you want a stronger flavor, and also add a pinch of salt in order to balance out the sweetness. Using spices like cinnamon or nutmeg can enhance the flavor. This guava jam can be used in jam tarts where you can fill up the tarts with the jam, and top them with whipped cream. You can also make guava swirl brownies with this preserve by adding the jam to the brownie batter. In fact, guava cream puffs are also a popular treat among many youngsters.
