It’s not possible to smoosh every Barbie universe villain in one place, so we picked some of the best, most memorable, and lowkey amusing villains or pairs from the animated films. Hate them as much as you want, they are more relatable than Barbie, especially as an adult, as they proudly embrace their vices. Yin cannot exist without Yang, just like Barbie can’t exist without these sneaky, egoistic, and chaotic villains. Imagine them as sinful desserts, raking up your calorie count, if you can’t we did that for you!
Odile stood out more than her father, Rothbart, who was the actual villain, because of her high-pitched horsey voice and her harmless character. Her little tantrums and comical voice made her an entertaining watch as she unintentionally kept Rothbart from causing less harm than he intended to. For the father-daughter duo, a lemon meringue pie is perfect. Lemon pie for the evil Rothbart with his clear intentions of overthrowing his cousin the fairy queen and meringue for his daughter Odile, who is the apple of his eye. We love a good Bokeh and Tsukkomi duo especially when it is as entertaining as Rothbart and Odile.
Two unsuspecting royal women and their royal advisor, are faced with a case of depleted mines that run their whole kingdom, what could possibly go wrong? Of course, it turns out the royal advisor is the actual villain, who steals all the gold with a sinister motive. He is introduced with a hilarious song about his scheme as his two cronies, Nick and Nack watch on. The audacity to think of marrying the princess, then the Queen, with the money he was stealing from them is very Preminger-coded. A pesky villain of Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper deserves a rich brownie for his sketchy and calculated deviousness.
She was banished and turned into a toad, but she reinvented herself for the sake of her ambition. In a rare moment of vulnerability in the third film of the Fairytopia trilogy, she lets slip, how she’d have loved to be a sparkly fairy, perhaps that’s why she wants to get rid of the kind-hearted Enchantress, her sister, and rule all of Fairytopia instead. For this tenacious villain, who keeps respawning like a cockroach, a lava cake is perfect.
The best ending, perhaps second only to Rothbart, Wenlock got what he deserved for truly being malicious inside out, not only going after wealth but also women. He kept three of them, transformed into goblins, and slaving away, in his ugly green castle with his Griffin pet patrolling it often. He’s a gingerbread, for he too had a humble beginning like the cake, and once he found magic, he went after Princesses and got ruined by one ambitious one and his ‘wives’ taking revenge on him. The gingerbread wives, beating up the cake of sorts as divine intervention.
They made her really mean instead of working on her manipulative trait where she sugarcoats her ‘concern’ for Rapunzel. She is perhaps the most vile and evil villain who makes the poor girl she kidnapped as a baby, toil day and night to serve her. She even destroyed the only hobby Rapunzel had, painting. For the sinister woman men like to cast as shallow villains, a dark chocolate pie is perfect for her refined tastes even though she knows she’s a menace.
Queen Ariana and Dave Devin from Princess Charm School are quite similar, as their tales go. Both are equally malicious and scheming, coming from nothing and marrying a gullible rich man, then scheming some more to crown their daughter the Princess. As for Queen Ariana, she groomed her daughter to be the perfect royal even though her sweet daughter wanted to marry for love. As always, the grand scheme falls apart thanks to Barbie and her knowledge of herbs, growing up wild on an Island and all. She’s a Tiramisu with her endless energy to make sure her plan is flawless even if it meant keeping her daughter in the dark. Kind of like the backstory of one of the top 10 Italian desserts which is also one of its coffee desserts i.e., Tiramisu.
A mean girl inside out, jealousy drives her to curb the 12 Princesses' freedom and suck out any joy in their life. She is a stickler for the prudish and uptight way governesses have and loves to go roughshod on the motherless princesses, including keeping them away from their father and also trying to thwart their little pleasure of dancing. One of the most famous Italian desserts, panna cotta with its perfect form and wobbly quality is the perfect dessert to stand for the evil Duchess. She is broke and to ensure she always has money wants to usurp the throne even if it means poisoning the king. While panna cotta is subtly sweet imagine its inside hiding malice like the poor King couldn't detect and took a bite of one of the most famous Italian desserts.
