Over the years the sweet has gained its popularity and has been fulfilling the cravings of thousands of people. It is either made of khoya or cashew in some cases. Despite the variation of its base, these Indian sweets have remained quite popular, ready to be used in any traditional occasion.

Evolution of chocolate barfi

After years of having the same sweet, now has come the time for making subtle changes in them. Chocolate is one such item that can help in making a new sweet recipe in India. Both barfi and chocolate are very popular among people from various age groups. Therefore, the combination of these two items will be a game-changer in making these new recipes for the people to use on multiple occasions. Gone are the days when you can only use Cadbury chocolate to make a truffle cake. Now you can create as many variations of Indian sweet recipes as you can.

How to prepare chocolate barfi

One of the main ingredients of the chocolate barfi is chocolate, and khoya, or milk solids. The base items need to be of superior quality for the dessert to be delectable. The process is fairly easy once you get all the ingredients. Here is a simple procedure for you to follow:

  • 500 gm khoya or milk solids
  • 200 gm sugar
  • 100 gm melted Cadbury Bournville dark chocolate
  • 25 gm Cadbury cocoa powder
  • 30 gm ghee or clarified butter
  • 5 gm of cardamom powder
  • A few slices of almond or pistachio

Recipe:

The first thing you need to do is to heat up a pan where you will mix ghee and milk solids. Stir the mixture continuously while keeping the flame to a minimum. You will have to cook it until it becomes soft and the color changes slightly darker.

Then you will have to add the sugar and cook till the sugar is melted. The one thing you need to do to make this easy recipe is to stir it constantly to avoid burning. Then use the Cadbury cocoa powder and/or melted Cadbury Bournville dark chocolate to the mixture. Indian sweets tend to be soft and sweet, so you will not have to compromise on this matter.

After you have added everything, you will have to keep it cooking until the mixture thickens and the amount is reduced. Once you come to the end of the process, add the cardamom powder and stir it more.

To serve the Chocolate burfi you will have to grease a tray with ghee and spread the mixture evenly. Once the mixture is cooled down, you can cut it into the shape of a burfi and add the nuts of your choice to garnish. Before serving, you have to make sure that the sweet is completely cooled down.

This is one of the most unique ways you can utilize chocolate. Mixing the two most popular items loved by people will not only bring forth sweet lovers but will also help in making one of the best confectionaries that the current generation will love.
