Make Way for Noddy and Friends for the characters are now unique desserts!

Make Way for Noddy and Friends for the characters are now unique desserts!Adapted from the famous Noddy books penned by Enid Blyton, it grew into an animated series where some of the most beloved characters in the books were given life. Noddy is an independent puppet living in Toyland, working as a taxi driver and ferrying people around town. The books and the series played a big part in many now adult folks’ childhood, for them we took a little liberty and turned some much-loved Noddy and his friend’s characters into sweet desserts and more.

1. Vanilla Cake – Noddy

A wooden puppet with a blue pointy hat with a bell in the end, Noddy is the protagonist of Toyland who was made by a woodcarver. Big Ears led him to Toyland when he found a homeless Noddy in the woods and deemed him fit to live among fellow toys. After tests and trials, to prove he is a toy Noddy in his red and yellow attire drives around a taxi, with a familiar horn, ferrying fellow Toyland residents to prove he’s a good toy. The amusing part about this toy is his ability to nod his head, hence the name, that goes on for a while, disorienting him much to the amusement of the folks who bobble his head. For this kind simpleton, a vanilla cake is perfect.

2. Scones – Big Ears

A bearded gnome with pointy ears and a red hat on his head, Big Ears lived in a delightful toadstool house. Remember how Big Ears always seemed to be having a tea party by himself but somehow had enough for anyone who stopped by, especially Noddy? He’s the only living or rather magical being in all of Toyland and also the wisest in the land with great knowledge of magic and history. For such a kind, wise, and reliable character whom Noddy turns to in times of need and also friendship, he’s like the warm scones he serves, sweet and buttery.

3. Blueberry Muffin – Mr Plod

He’s the policeman who looks uncannily like a British policeman, perhaps because the writer is a Brit herself. Going by tradition we picked a blueberry muffin for him, as a cheeky little reference to the English muffins introduced to the Americas by a British immigrant. Since Noddy begins his life in Toyland as an outsider, Mr Plod always thinks he drives too fast and also shady. Not to get into stereotypes but perhaps the English writers knew what they were doing with Mr Plod’s character and it fits him nicely, like how one of the most loved blueberry desserts – have the perfect pairing of blueberries and muffin.

4. Honey Pie – Tessie Bear

Tessie Bear lives with Bumpy Dog in a pink house matching her pink bonnet adorned with blue flowers. She’s shy, sweet, and kind and is shown to be clever on many occasions and a good friend to Noddy. Due to loving nature so much, she has a natural connection to plants which makes her a potion master and also a kindred soul in all of Toytown. She’s quite sensitive and treats her friends the same way she treats her plants, for such a sweetheart a honey pie is perfect.

5. Fruit Tart – Sly and Gobbo

Every cartoon needs its troublemakers, and Sly and Gobbo are the troublemakers of Toyland bothering the residents, quite often. They are petty thieves who love coins and steal from the residents and also cause trouble, for which they apologize, when put on the spot, but return to their meandering ways the very next day. For the troublesome duo, one a tad more clever than the other, a fruit tart is perfect with the Gobbo having more wits being the tart fruit filling and Sly the buttery crust.

6. Chocolate Pudding – Mr Wobbly

Modeled after a roly-poly toy that never topples over even after being pushed and going off its center, Mr. Wobbly spends most of his life, around Toyland, almost toppling over. The poor thing is clumsy and is very self-conscious about it especially when he’s made fun of constantly. For this simpleton, nothing else but one of the most simple yet rich chocolate desserts will do – a chocolate pudding for his smooth roundish body that keeps getting him rocking all over.

7. Chocolate Chip Cookie – Bumpy Dog

In the books Bumpy Dog shows a rare kinship with Noddy, invades his home, and in general, is a nuisance to the townsfolks by bumping into everything and wreaking havoc. He lives with Tessie Bear but hangs out a lot with Noddy and Mary, another character who eerily resembles Noddy. His boundless energy is as fascinating as a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie for anyone who has a weakness for it. And a bite into one can literally save any bad day just like Bumpy Dog’s leaping tendencies quite literally have been useful in many occasions.
