You might have seen the recent craze of sandwiches on the internet because after a point the “munchie guilt” hits you. While the guilt eats at you, your craving still demands to be fed, perhaps that's what inspired this craze because sandwiches are easy peasy to make and when you fix them yourself you know exactly how much calories you put into your body. Ditch the normie diet fads and instead fix yourself a sandwich and bite into its gooey or fresh deliciousness starting with Japan's beloved sando! Munch away to guilt-free snacking, making sure you don't overdose on these, for they can be highly addicting. Here are some delish dessert recipes:
1. Strawberry Sando(Makes 2 sandwiches)
Ingredients
- 240 ml whipping cream
- 30 gm powdered sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla essence
- 4 slices of milk bread
- 10 regular-sized strawberries
Instructions
- Take a chilled bowl, add the whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla essence. Whisk them up until stiff peaks appear.
- The strawberries need to be no more than half a finger's length. Wash them thoroughly, chop off the tops. Cut them into halves, longitudinally. Remove the crust of the bread slices.
- Place the white bread on a clean, flat surface and slather ample whipping cream on two of the slices, place 5 strawberry halves on the whipped cream bread. Arrange the strawberries exactly how the spades/hearts/clubs in a number 5 card are arranged. To get the aesthetic right, make sure they face the same direction.
- Slather another layer of whipped cream on the arranged strawberries, completely covering them.
- Press the other two milk bread on the two finished bottom slices, gently. Remove excess cream from the sides.
- Carefully but tightly wrap the sando in plastic wrap. Remember which side your strawberries pointed mark that direction on the plastic.
- Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Take them out and slice in the way your and marked and enjoy your sweet strawberry sando!
2. Grilled Chocolate Sandwich(Makes 2 sandwiches)
Ingredients
- 30 gm butter
- 4 thick slices of white bread
- 60 gm chocolate chips
- 2 tsp powdered sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon powder
Instructions
- Grab your skillet and heat over medium flame. Butter two slices of bread and press the first one, with the butter side down, on the pan. Add half of the chocolate chips on this bread slice. Let the chocolate melt and bread brown.
- Take the second slice of buttered bread, butter side up, and place on top of the melted chocolate.
- Flip the bread to brown the second slice. Once it browns, combine the sugar and cinnamon and serve. Repeat with the other two slices of the bread. If you're skillet is big you can do both pairs side by side.
3. Jelly Cheese Sandwich
Ingredients
- 4 slices of white bread
- 115 gm cream cheese
- 115 gm flavored jelly
Instructions
- Make sure you use room temperature cream cheese. Spread it over two slices of bread.
- Take your favorite brand of flavored jelly, make sure it's chilled. Scoop some out and spread over the cream cheese.
- Press down with the plain white bread. Cut into four pieces each and enjoy.
4. Salted Caramel Panini
Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread
- 2 tbsp salted caramel sauce
- 4 average sized strawberries (sliced)
- 4 big marshmallows (cut into four slices)
Equipment: Panini press or sandwich maker
Instructions
- Remove the crust of the bread (optional) and spread half of 1 tbsp of salted caramel sauce on two bread slices.
- Arrange strawberries on both slices, then arrange the marshmallows on top of them. Press down the dry bread slices on top of them.
- Heat your equipment and grease with butter or cooking spray. Pop the sandwiches into the machine and grill until the marshmallow starts to ooze.
- Cut into two pieces each and serve or eat them.
5. Cheesecake Sandwich(Makes 4 sandwiches)
Ingredients
- 8 digestive biscuits
- 115 gm cream cheese
- 60 ml cold heavy cream
- 40 gm powdered sugar
- 1 ½ tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Fillings like strawberries, hazelnut or chocolate spread (optional)
Instructions:
- Take a big mixing bowl, pour cold heavy cream and use an electric hand mixer to whip until it thickens and holds its shape, slightly more than firm peaks but not to the point of becoming whipped cream.
- Add in the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract and lemon juice. Whip again until evenly combined. At this point, you can divide the mixture and add different fillings.
- Take one heaped tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture and place it in the center of a digestive biscuit. Top with another biscuit and gently press down until the filling reaches the edges. Repeat this process to make 4 sandwiches.
- Refrigerate these for at least 3-4 hours, or until the filling is nice and firm.
