If you are here from part 1, welcome back, for we have some more characters lined up to take the cake, or rather masquerade as desserts. We will expand a tad to encompass Queen Charlotte and her beloved troupe as well, for without her none of the balls would be happening and neither would the couples find each other. So we start with the OG queen of matchmaking and move over to the supporting cast who made a big splash in the show. Enjoy these together as a birthday surprise idea for best friend.

1. Pavlova – Queen Charlotte

A fanciful dessert for the Queen in the series with her fanciful wigs with the waltzing swans in them. Her steadfast character and girlhood melted away to peak dignified Queen behavior, not to mention her ability to juggle the subtle nuances of politics, both personal and empire-wide. The extra season with her backstory was the icing on the cake, which showed her in peak form as she transitioned into her role of being the Head of State with her mercurial Kings by her side. A graceful meringue who lives against the odds with the cracks that might appear.

2. Lemon Meringue Tart – Lady Danbury

One of the most prominent characters of the show, Lady Danbury has been a pillar of quiet strength in all of the seasons. She made her debut as one of the ladies-in-waiting, who quickly turned a confidant to young Queen Charlotte. Her presence is unmistakable and she has been making herself known ever since she started rubbing elbows with the nobility and royals. She also has been an indispensable source of guidance to the young debutantes, aiding the Queen, all the while being the man in her family after her husband passes away. Her backstory makes her an intriguing character like the tartness of the lemon tart with the sweet meringue decoration on top of it.

3. Victoria Sponge Cake – Lady Violet Bridgerton

Another strong matriarchal head who leads with sensitivity and a lot of love with endless warmth radiating from her, Violet Bridergton is the perfect mom. With the progressive liberties taken by the show, she is shown through a feminist lens, exposing her vulnerable side, and also as a young girl while Lady Danbury’s story unfolds alongside the Queen. If there was a picture of peak nobility it is her, so, she’s the Victoria Sponge Cake, that several years down the line, in real life, Queen Charlotte’s granddaughter, Queen Victoria popularised at afternoon tea.

4. Flan – Brimsley

What’s better than the royal butler who exasperates the Queen and in his older years addicting to the comic element in his scenes with her? Why of course, not-so-subtle hints at his own parallel story that makes you wonder if he was the Karim Abdul to Queen Charlotte like, he was to Queen Victoria, in the film Victoria and Abdul. In a way he was, but he has a parallel life with his lover who was ironically the King’s butler. We don’t know what happens to them, but his unwavering service to the Queen makes him a comfort dessert at best, so, the caramel Flan suits his character the best.

5. Gingerbread Cake – Eloise Bridgerton

Eloise is the snappiest daughter among the Bridgerton siblings, who holds her head high and is proud of having a feminist mindset, because of which she is fast friends with Penelope, because of their pact to stay spinsters. The books toss out this trait later, we do hope she remains headstrong though. Because of her independent traits, she appears snappy, just like the bits of ginger in a gingerbread cake.

6. Banoffee Pie – Benedict Bridgerton

Perhaps his character is next to set the screen on fire, this troubled artist might just be the next rake after the devilish Anthony in his singlehood. We do get snippets of his character unfurling and blossoming like tea leaves in hot water. Time will tell if Benedict crumbles like the crust of the Banoffee Pie, or turns out to be the best Bridgerton sibling with a sizzling story, it has already begun in full force since season 3, like the delicately put-together dessert that the pie is, touching upon his sensitive and tortured artistic soul.

7. English Trifle – King George III

We were all feeling what about-to-marry Princess Charlotte was feeling when she was trying to run away when she developed cold feet on the day of her wedding and met her intended King George instead. The young George hit the jackpot in the genetic lottery and floored the young Charlotte enough to be enamored by his charms. As the story unfolds so does his insanity and in the moments when he had a hold on himself, he lived up to his promise to be the love of his Queen’s life before becoming the King of his Kingdom. His traits and character arc are perfectly encapsulated by the messy English trifle, whose layers get messed up while eating.
