Make your chocolate fantasies come true with these Willy Wonka inspired desserts that are based on some memorable scenes and characters from the fantastical world. We are sure the oompa loompas would dance in delight and break into a happy tune to this one!

Bring Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory to your kitchen with these inspired dessert recipes! Fans of Roald Dahl's classic story will love recreating some of its most memorable chocolate and sweets.

As much as some of us wished we could get that golden ticket like those five lucky children, and were disappointed with reality, this is your chance to bake and serve something straight out of Willy Wonka's world! The more absurd, the better it is, for magic needs no logic to exist or make sense just like the calories in a chocolate bar.

1. Oompa Loompa Truffles

As absurd as the Lilliputian tribal community running around a magic chocolate factory is, this one will perfectly fit them. Make truffle balls and use orange food coloring to mimic the orange outfit they were wearing in the movie.

Ingredients:

  • 200 gm dark chocolate, chopped
  • 100 gm sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Orange food coloring
  • 100 gm cocoa powder for rolling

Instructions:

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Place the chocolate in a medium heatproof bowl. Heat the milk in a small saucepan until just simmering, for about 3 minutes.
  • Pour the hot milk over the chocolate and let it sit for 5 minutes. Gently stir it until smooth. Stir in the vanilla.
  • Place the food coloring in a small cup and add a few drops at a time to the chocolate mixture until you get a bright orange color.
  • Scoop rounded teaspoonfuls (5 ml) of the chocolate mixture and roll into balls. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Place the cocoa powder in a shallow dish. Roll the truffles in the cocoa powder to coat completely.
  • Refrigerate the truffles for at least 1 hour before serving.

2. Squirrel’s Peanut Butter Fudge with Nuts and Caramel

Veruca Salt got on one of the special squirrels' bad side by trying to grab them. The squirrel tapped on her head to check if she was a bad nut, which she was, and chucked her down the bin. Inspired by the spunky, hardworking squirrels responsible for the top-notch nuts at Willy Wonka’s factory, this Peanut Butter Fudge with Nuts and Caramel is a fitting nutty representation.

Ingredients:

  • 200 gm smooth peanut butter
  • 400 gm sweetened condensed milk
  • 100 gm butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 150 gm roasted peanuts, chopped
  • 100 gm caramel candies, chopped

Instructions:

  • Line a square baking pan with baking paper, letting the paper overhang on two sides.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the peanut butter, condensed milk, butter and salt. Put on medium heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and bubbly, about 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla. Fold in the peanuts and caramel pieces.
  • Pour into the prepared pan and use a spatula to spread evenly. Refrigerate it until firm, at least for 3 hours.
  • Lift the fudge out of the pan using the parchment overhang. Cut into squares. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

3. Chocolate Waterfall Bundt Cake

To quote Willy Wonka, the "waterfall is the most important part of the factory", for it is the waterfall that is behind the impeccable taste of the factory’s chocolate. Such was the reputation that one of the kids visiting the factory, Augustus Gloop, fell headfirst into the chocolate river while trying to slurp the chocolate.

Ingredients:

  • 180 gm all-purpose flour
  • 120 gm Cadbury Cocoa Powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 270 gm sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 120 ml vegetable oil
  • 120 ml buttermilk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 240 ml boiling water
  • 240 gm Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate, melted

Chocolate buttercream frosting:

  • 170 gm unsalted butter, softened
  • 340 gm confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2-3 tbsp milk
  • 120 gm Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate, melted

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a bundt pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat the sugar and eggs until light. Add in oil, buttermilk and vanilla.
  • Gradually stir dry ingredients into wet until just combined. Stir in boiling water at the end.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for about an hour until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool completely before unmolding from the pan onto a plate.
  • Carve out a tunnel through the center of the cake.
  • Slowly pour melted chocolate into the tunnel. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to partially set.
  • Make buttercream frosting by beating the butter until fluffy. Gradually beat in the confectioners' sugar and milk. Stir in the melted chocolate.
  • Frost the outside of the cake. Cut and serve. The cut surface will reveal the partially set chocolate "waterfall" pouring from the center cavity—just like the scene from the movie!
