In retrospect, it almost looks like Dr. House (Hugh Laurie) lost it all and trapped a rat at his ex’s house, naming him Steve McQueen and keeping him as a pet, after finding out the rat was sick, as a not-so-subtle jab towards his role as Mr Little in Stuart Little. While Steve McQueen is an actual rat, Stuart Little is a white mouse who walks, talks and acts like a human. No wonder Mr and Mrs Little fell in love with the little guy. So let’s go, “Little high, little low! Little hey, little ho”, with the Little family as we turn them and some amusing characters into desserts.
The educated little white mouse grew up in an orphanage with humans and perhaps, the longest person living there, which is why he was a great wallflower knowing everything about the kids at the orphanage as a result. Frederick and Eleanor Little loved him right away even though they were surprised by him. Stuart, despite his small size, is adventurous and courageous and has multiple adventures owing to his mini size in toy cars, boats, and airplanes, sometimes running away and other times running towards trouble. He's adored by the whole family including his stepbrother George, so like a Christmas miracle, Stuart Little is the round hot chocolate bomb that dissolved in a glass of milk to yield a heart and soul-warming dessert-like drink on cold wintery nights.
The cute blonde kid with nerdy glasses who is the only kid of Mr. and Mrs Little, did not warm up to his little mouse adoptive brother, but they bonded over his toy, and even more so, after Stuart helped him win a boat race against his bully. They have been inseparable ever since. He even covers for Stuart when he chases after Margolo who was his friend and love interest, without telling his parents the whole deal. To match his hair, and wholesomeness, we pick Blondies, or rather white-ish brownies minus the chocolate.
A furry Persian cat that is beloved of the Little family, Snowbell got super excited to see Stuart and not in the friendly, you’re-my-master, kind of way. He does try to eat Stuart but that changes when he sees how the Littles adore the little mouse. Because Stuart is family, Snowbell grows to become protective of Stuart, including taking on the street cats, one or two of whom are his friends. A soft and fragrant coconut macaroon that is often drizzled or dipped in chocolate, is perfect for this otherwise snooty cat.
A doting dad to George Little, Frederick Little like his wife Eleanor, has an instant connection with the orphan Stuart. Frederick Little brings in the British dad vibe with his dry wit and charm making great comic relief. For the well-meaning patriarch of the Little family, a rich and dark chocolate cake is perfect. His on-off funny personality fits right in with the sophisticated taste of dark chocolate elevated by the sponge cake layers of a chocolate cake.
Eleanor Little, just like her husband Frederich, is quite taken with Stuart when they meet him at the Orphanage and despite warnings, she readily accepts Stuart into her family. She’s a loving and supportive mother, kind and gentle, who runs the home and always puts her family first. If Fredrich is the more serious and frivolous parent, he sent Stuart down a drainage pipe, she’s the worrywart and always watches out for everyone, especially Stuart who she’s overprotective of. For this mom, an apple pie is perfect, like the perfect American homemaker that she is.
A canary sporting an aviator’s helmet, Margolo is Stuart’s BFF and also his love interest. The plot of her existence in the Stuart little universe was working for the Falcon, who tasked her with collecting shiny trinkets, mostly valuable household objects. Falcon is her adoptive dad as well which makes it more complicated for her to sever ties with him, but that's what ultimately happens and she's adopted into the Little family. For this canary, a lemon pie is perfect, as a nod to her sad backstory, her duty-bound nature, and her yellow feathers.
Monty starts out as an antagonist and Snowbell's good friend and despite him considering the spoiled Persian cat as his brother, he and the pet cat are at odds because of Stuart, a mouse who tends to be prey for cats. He's a street cat and naturally, he's crass despite being nice most of the time and tries to nab Stuart for most of the film universe, he does turn a tide later, although he ROFLed when he found out a mouse was going to be his master. For this crazy gray tabby, a chocolate Swiss roll is perfect. The swirl is similar to Monty’s stripes and his tendencies to be naive yet neurotic.
