With a catchy tune and a sci-fi theme of robot monkeys led by a little boy, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! was an entertaining watch alongside an entourage of similar shows from the era it came from, i.e., the early 2000s. Nothing weird at all here, just 5 robot monkeys with a human teen, Chiro leading them while inside a big robot, to their adventures against the evil Skeleton King. While it might not have been a successful cartoon, it left an indelible mark on many kids, so we picked some characters from it and turned them into desserts!
The 13-year-old teen who wakes the mechanical monkeys and gets possessed by the spirit of an ape, he’s extraordinary lies in his humaneness. Chiro already knew how to fight before donning his white and orange attire to play the role of a hero. He’s a carrot cake because of this costume, plus the fact he’s just a kid too. Like a typical teen, he tends to be impulsive and stubborn but grows into the role of a leader, perfectly aligning with his outgoing nature. He commands the torso of the big robot, home to the monkeys and also their battle robot.
This money is the unofficial leader of the Hyperforce, and the second in command officially, operating the robot’s head during combat. He’s a black monkey, who is later shown as silver, with olive eyes and his inbuilt weapons are ghost claws, which he sports during hand-to-hand combat. Antauri, being the wisest monkey and the mentor of the young Chiro, is perfect as a chocolate mousse, for, like the rich and indulgent dessert, he too is the quiet guiding force in the team.
Every team needs its clown, and in this circus, it is Sparx, the red monkey with his magnetic hands. He’s the best pilot on the team and operates the robot’s right hand. Someone actually put a cis man in Sparx’s body, for he exactly behaves like the typical stereotype everyone complains about, “doesn't take life too seriously”, is a big joker, and is secretly mad at team decisions, which he disagrees with. Why is he a chocolate marble cake? Because of his ego, for, he knows he’s an excellent pilot, and the fact of his quiet jealousy, when he disagrees with something, something that the enemy uses against him to sabotage his team.
The team’s innovative genius, Gibson is a scientist preferring to mix potions and indulging in scientific wrangling rather than actual fights. We know for a fact, that Gibson would rather be fascinated by the intricately crafted Opera cake with its many layers and the fusion of different components. And why is not not surprising he’s prim and proper and acts like an uptight British? He despises the less intelligent and in fact gets irritated with Otto and Sparx who are more into fighting than discussing science. He operates the robot’s left hand and has drills built into his hands.
The third in command, Nova is an excellent fighter with a yellow body and pink eyes, and the only female on the team, initially. She operates the robot’s right foot and her being excellent in physical combat, makes sense as to why she has Robo-Fists. Is it a surprise she likes Sparx and has a short fuse, given she’s named after Supernova, an exploding star? She’s a total badass but what made us pick pancakes for her is her secret love for stuffed toys, very millennial-core of Nova. Gives her a comfort character edge if you ask her just like pancakes for breakfast.
There is one character that tends to be the butt of jokes in every cartoon, and that is Otto. The second lead syndrome is strong with this one especially when it comes to liking Nova. He’s the genius mechanic in the team and quite naive and a little child-like that tends to lowkey make him funny as well. He has many weapons, but the electric saw is what he uses often. Funnily he operates the left foot of the big robot, so for the little monkey, a fun ice-cream sandwich is perfect.
The sworn enemy of the Hyperforce, Skelton King is technically the father of the robot monkeys, having been an alchemist in his heyday. Once he was gripped by evil thanks to the monkeyness foolishness of the former Hyperforce leader, Mandarin, he turned into the Skeleton King and naturally the Hyoerforce, created to fight evil once Captain Shuggazoom, a friend of the Alchemist was doomed. Sounds like a bittersweet tale, being forced to fight the very creations you made. So, a chocolate orange mousse for the Skeleton King and his chequered past.
