Include a big dose of chocolate to your NYE celebrations with these chocolatey drinks that are going to give you a sweet buzz.

2024 is almost upon us and we’re sure you're going to celebrate in style. Since no celebration is complete without chocolate and no NYE is complete without a good dose of alcohol, we decided to bring the two together. For a sweet kick, here are some of the best chocolate drinks you can sip on as you count down to the coming year.

Chocolate martini

If you’re a martini person, ditch the normal fare for this chocolatey martini instead. It combines the goodness and richness of chocolate with the tartness and dryness of vodka, leading to an indulgent and rich cocktail.

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz Baileys Irish cream
  • 4 oz chocolate liqueur
  • 8 oz vodka
  • 3 tbsp chocolate ganache
  • 2 tbsp chocolate syrup

Directions:

  • First, decorate the glass. Drizzle chocolate syrup inside the glass and coat the rims of the glasses with it too, by placing the syrup on a plate and then dipping the glass’ rim in it.
  • In a cocktail shaker, mix the Baileys, liqueur and vodka, with a cup of ice. Shake until chilled.
  • 8 oz vodka
  • Strain the drink into the martini glass and garnish with shaved chocolate.

Death by Chocolate

This cocktail goes heavy on the chocolate and is perfect for those intense sweet cravings. The chocolate elements and the coffee liqueur lead to a delectable contrast, making sure it isn’t too sweet to consume, and ensuring it's indulgent but not over the top crazy.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 oz coffee liqueur
  • 1 oz dark crème de cacao liqueur
  • 2 scoops chocolate ice cream
  • 2 tbsp chocolate syrup
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • Whipped cream, for garnish
  • Cherry, for garnish

Directions:

  • In a blender, pour the vodka, coffee and chocolate liqueurs, and mix.
  • Then add the ice cream, chocolate syrup, and crushed ice and mix again until it's a smooth concoction.
  • Transfer the mixture into a glass.
  • Top with whipped cream, a single cherry, and serve chilled.

Chocolate Mint Julep

The official drink of the derby, the mint julep is a refreshing and minty drink to sip on, with a long history. Viewers have been sipping on it while watching horses race for several years now. A brilliant variation of the classic minty drink is a chocolate mint julep. Simply add chocolate into the mix and you have a varied and nuanced new flavor profile to sip on.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 7 large mint leaves
  • ½ oz chocolate whiskey or creme de cacao
  • 2 dashes of chocolate bitters
  • Mint sprig, for garnish
  • Chocolate mint cookie, for garnish
  • Candies, for garnish

Directions:

  • Coat the inside of a julep cup with a large mint leaf, running all through the cup’s interior and rim.
  • Add the whiskey, mint leaves and bitters into the cup and mix well.
  • Add the bourbon and crushed ice and stir well.
  • Add a fresh sprig of mint and a chocolate mint cookie or candy on top and serve chilled.

Chocolate Old Fashioned

Give the classic whiskey drink a modern twist by adding chocolate into the mix. It adds an element of indulgence to an otherwise old and respected drink, making it younger and more exciting. The combination of chocolate’s sweetness and whisky’s bitterness makes for a formidable duo that blend surprisingly well together.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz chocolate whiskey
  • 0.75 oz bourbon
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • 2 dashes chocolate mole bitters
  • Orange slice, for garnish
  • Cherry, for garnish

Directions:

  • Mix the chocolate whiskey, bourbon, chocolate bitters and orange bitters in a glass.
  • Add ice and stir well.
  • Strain into the serving glass with a large piece of ice in it.
  • Garnish with an orange slice dipped in chocolate and a single cherry for complementary flavors and more subtle tastes.

Chocolate Shot

Shots are a must have at most parties. And especially on the occasion of new years eve, it makes sense that you want to knock back glass after tiny glass of pure and dangerous indulgence. Add some chocolate to your shot and you have a simple, two ingredient shot that’s easy and hassle free to make, and really offers double the kick, from the alcohol and from the chocolate’s sugar rush. Also, it's a sweet drink so it's going to be easier to down more of these than your regular alcohol shots.

  • Whipped cream, for garnish
  • Sprinkles, for garnish
