Want creamy and sumptuous desserts with minimal effort? Check out these desserts that only require you to throw a few things together in a blender.
One of our favorite tools in the kitchen is a good, high intensity blender. Without requiring any cooking or baking, freezing or setting, by simply throwing together a few things in this machine, one can create delicious dishes. We know you’re probably on edge, but trust us, there’s so much more to blenders than just smoothies and shakes. Think creamy puddings, frozen desserts and mousses, among other dishes. So with our detailed guide on making desserts in a blender, get ready to whip up a frenzy.
Chocolate Avocado Mousse
This rich and creamy dessert is made by combining avocados, cocoa powder, a sweetener of your choice like sugar or honey, and a splash of vanilla extract. Just blend all the ingredients until they are smooth and creamy, and then refrigerate for four to six hours to let the flavors meld together. The result is a decadent chocolate mousse that's dairy-free and packed with healthy fats.
Notes on the recipe:
- You can use milk, dark or white chocolate, depending on your preference.
- Add sugar depending on your taste. Remember, you can always increase the sweetness later by adding chocolate sauce on top or some other sweet garnish, but you can’t reduce the sweetness if you’ve added too much sugar. So be careful!
- You can garnish with nuts like cashews, almonds or pistachios, fresh berries or chocolate nibs or pieces.
- You can also add a bit of coffee powder to the mix for added kick and flavour.
Berry Frozen Yogurt
This is a refreshing summer treat, a favourite for many. To make your own berry frozen yogurt in the blender, bring together frozen berries, Greek yogurt, honey, and a squeeze of lemon juice until smooth. Pour the mixture into a shallow dish and freeze for a few hours, stirring occasionally to break up any ice crystals. The end result is a creamy and tangy frozen yogurt that's bursting with berry flavor.
Notes on the recipe:
- For the best, and creamiest results, use full fat yogurt. If you prefer using low fat, that’s also fine, but the resultant yogurt will be less creamy.
No-Bake Cheesecake
That’s right! It’s possible to make a cheesecake without any of the baking or using of the oven. Simply blend together cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract until smooth. Then pour the mixture into a graham cracker crust and refrigerate for a few hours until it’s set. Then top it with your favorite fruit compote or chocolate sauce, leading to an easy and impressive dessert.
Notes on the recipe:
- The lemon juice only adds a freshness and slight tartness to the dish, but doesn't give it a full-fledged lemon flavor. If you want a lemon-flavored cheesecake, add two spoons of lemon juice and some lemon zest.
- Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature before you toss it in the blender. It's best to be patient and leave it out for a few hours until it thaws naturally, and then start the blending. If it's too cold when you blend it, it won't absorb the other flavors well and the final product will also be less appealing.
- Topping options include whipped cream, lemon curd, strawberry sauce, fresh berries or salted caramel, among several others. You can get as creative or be as minimalistic as you prefer.
Banana Ice Cream
The banana ice cream is a healthy and delicious alternative to your traditional ice creams. To make it, you simply have to blend frozen bananas with a splash of milk or a dairy-free alternative, until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Then add in your favorite mix-in like chocolate chips or a nut butter, all of which will add extra flavor and more texture. Serve it immediately for a soft-serve consistency or freeze it for a few hours to get a firmer texture.
Notes on the recipe:
- If you want a sweeter taste, consider adding a spoonful of sugar or honey to the blender as well.
- If you don't want to use dairy, you can use any alternative like almond milk, soy milk or any other option that’s available to you.
Top the ice cream with sprinkles, nuts, or choco bites for a fancier look and an enhanced taste.
