Three Delish Dessert Recipes You Can Share With Your Dog: Banana Pudding, Carrot Peanut Butter Muffins, and More

As a dog parent, you have to be careful about what your pet eats so they remain energetic, and have a lustrous coat. A lot of human foods are a big no when it comes to dogs, many of them can prove toxic for them. Sugar, grapes, and chocolate are just some of these foods that you must never give your pet.

If you’re looking for alternative sweeteners for treats, consider using fruits like apples and bananas, which can add natural sweetness along with added nutrients. Small amounts of maple syrup and honey can also be used. You must also consult your veterinarian if you have any doubts about whether these treats are suitable for your dog’s diet.

Keeping in mind the limitations when it comes to a dog’s diet, here are three delish dessert recipes that you can whip up and enjoy with your pet. All pet parents love to spoil their fur babies and treat them right. You will also have more control over the quality of ingredients because these treats are fresh and homemade. And they are good for you too! Read on to know more about making these easy sweet recipes at home:

Banana Pudding

Ingredients:

  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 180 ml honey
  • 450 ml almond milk
  • 3 tbsp flour (you can also use oat flour)

Instructions:

  • Separate the yolks of three eggs, and add the entire fourth egg to them. Set aside the whites for later.
  • Cook the honey, almond milk, three yolks and one egg, and flour in a saucepan, until they thicken. You’ll get a thick custard-like consistency.
  • After about 10 minutes, take the saucepan off the heat and add vanilla extract. Once slightly cool, you can strain it through a fine mesh sieve to remove any lumps.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°
  • Slice the bananas and layer then alternately with the pudding in a baking dish.
  • Whip the egg whites into meringues. Layer this over the banana and pudding layers and bake until the meringue is golden.
  • Treat your pet to this delicious banana pudding once it’s cool to touch.

Carrot Peanut Butter Muffins

Ingredients:

  • 60 gm peanut butter
  • 60 ml applesauce
  • 30 ml honey
  • 60 ml plain yogurt
  • 60 gm grated carrots
  • 90 gm wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 2 eggs

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 180° Put cupcake liners in your muffin tin, or just use a silicone baking mold.
  • In a food processor, add all the ingredients and blend until you get a smooth batter.
  • Transfer the batter into the baking tin. The batter will yield around 6-7 muffins. Bake the muffins in the oven for about 25 minutes to half an hour.
  • Let the muffins rest once out of the oven.
  • You can also create a quick frosting by whipping some thick Greek yogurt with honey and melted peanut butter. This will add calcium, vitamin D, and protein to the snack.

Fruit Popsicles

Ingredients:

  • 140 gm frozen berries
  • 240 gm plain yogurt
  • 1 banana

Instructions:

  • Divide the plain yogurt into 120 g each.
  • Blend the first half with the frozen berries and the second with the banana. You can also use fresh berries if they are in season.
  • First pour the first layer in the popsicle mold and let it freeze. Then add the second layer and put the mold in the freezer for a final freeze.
  • Beat the heat with your pet with these yummy popsicles. We promise they will love these fruit popsicles so much. You can also add some room temperature peanut butter in the recipe for some good fats and plant protein.
