Two Unique Sweet and Savory Chocolate and Bacon Delish Dessert Recipes

If you’re looking for some sweet and savory contrast in your desserts, then chocolate and bacon are your best buds. Besides the flavor contrast that both of them together give, they also have complementary textures. Chocolate is smooth and creamy, while bacon, when cooked right, is delightfully crispy. Make fancy chocolate desserts with bacon, and tickle your tastebuds.

Chocolate Bacon Cupcakes

Ingredients:

Candied bacon:

  • 120 gm packed light brown sugar
  • 25 gm granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp Cadbury Cocoa Powder
  • 12 slices of bacon, cut into halves

Cupcake batter:

  • 75 ml vegetable oil
  • 60 ml freshly brewed coffee
  • 60 ml buttermilk
  • 60 gm packed brown sugar
  • 40 gm Cadbury Cocoa Powder
  • 113 gm finely chopped Cadbury Bournville 50% Dark Chocolate
  • 90 gm flour
  • 100 gm granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Frosting:

  • 226 gm cream cheese
  • 4-5 tbsp Cadbury Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Flaky sea salt for garnish

Instructions:

  • For the candied bacon, place the cut strips onto a parchment paper-lined baking tray.
  • Preheat the oven to 175°C.
  • Mix brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cocoa powder then sprinkle this generously over the bacon strips.
  • Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes, then let them cool on a wire rack.
  • Keep the oven on and quickly start working on the cupcake batter. Line a muffin tin with cupcake holders.
  • Combine all of the liquid ingredients along with chopped chocolate in a bowl and microwave this. Then whisk until well-combined and let it cool down a bit.
  • Then add the eggs, vanilla extract and buttermilk to this.
  • In a large bowl, add the flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  • Mix the wet and dry ingredients together.
  • Pour the ingredients into the cupcake liners and bake for about 15 minutes.
  • Let the cupcakes cool for sometime then whisk the cream cheese with powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract. Whip as much air as you can into the frosting.
  • Once the cupcakes are cool, then ladle the frosting on top of each piece. Break the candied bacon into small pieces and use that as topping.

Chocolate Bacon Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 454 gm bacon strips
  • 480 gm flour
  • 340 gm melted unsalted butter or bacon grease
  • 200 gm packed light brown sugar
  • 200 gm packed dark brown sugar
  • 200 gm white sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 340 gm chocolate chips

Instructions:

  • Cook all of the bacon in batches until it shrinks in size, becomes crisp and leaves grease in your pan.
  • Collect the grease in a bowl and let it cool down. Mix it with some of the butter to get about 340 gm of fat that should be added to the cookies.
  • Preheat the oven to 165°C and prepare your cookie tray with baking paper.
  • Sift flour, baking soda and salt in a large bowl.
  • Then cream the fat with all the sugars, eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract.
  • Add the flour to the creamed fat and sugar mixture, then fold in the chocolate chips. Also crumble the cooked and crisp bacon.
  • Scoop out the chocolate chip cookies onto the baking tray.
  • Pop it in the fridge for about 20 minutes then into the oven.
  • Bake for 15 to 17 minutes, then cool on a wire rack.
