Autumn is around the corner, and we know what that means. Soon, winter will be knocking on our doors. Whether you belong to that part of the world that experiences heavy snowfall or the other, where it's less cold and chilly, some warm deserts at night, huddled up near the fireplace, or just under your blanket, would hurt no one. All these recipes will help you create new desserts every time you're in the mood for some cozy indulgences.

Apple Crumble with Oat Topping:

Ingredients:

  • 502 gm various types of apples
  • 151 gm sugar
  • 24 gm flour
  • 11 gm cinnamon powder
  • 7 gm nutmeg powder
  • 253 gm oats
  • 151 gm sugar
  • 102 gm butter
  • A pinch of salt

Method:

  1. For this one, you will need your oven for sure. So the first step would be preheating your oven to 180°C.
  2. After this, you should take a bowl and put the flour, apples, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg and mix them together, and give them a good mix, taking care to see that none of the apple slices remain uncoated.
  3. Please take another mixing bowl and add oats, salt, sugar, and cold butter into it. At this step, you can either use your fingers, but if the butter is too cold for you on a wintry evening, just take a flat bottom spoon and mix all these ingredients together. At the end of your mixing, it should ideally look like little crumbs in the bowl.
  4. Now,

it's time to bake the mixture of sugar, flour, nutmeg and cinnamon. You can take any regular baking dish, and add the mixture to it.
  5. Please don't forget the delicious buttery topping that you have prepared, and at this step, gently wrap the apple slices with the mixture of butter, sugar, salt, and oats.
  6. After this, let your oven do the rest of the work for the next 40 to 45 minutes.
  7. Once it is done, serve it warm and if you can manage to tolerate a bit of iciness during the chilly weather, then you can add a little scoop of chocolate ice cream, and dig in.

Choco Lava Cake:

Ingredients:

  • 203 gm Cadbury Bourneville Dark Chocolate (crush it to a crumble, or chips)
  • 101 gm sugar
  • 123 gm  flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • 122 ml milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 22 gm  butter

Method:

  1. What is winter without a little bit of baking? For this recipe, first let your oven preheat to 220°C.
  2. While your oven is heating, mix together salt and flour.
  3. For the next step, you have to take a big mixing bowl and prop it in the microwave for about 45 seconds with the chocolate chips and wait until they have melted into a creamy consistency.
  4. But fair warning before you proceed further — this recipe is going to need some cleaning afterward. So, take another bowl and mix together eggs, milk, sugar and butter.
  5. Once all your separate ingredients have been prepared, take the mixture of flour and salt, and blend it with the eggy, buttery concoction.
  6. This is the chocolatey part where you have to gently fold the melted, creamy chocolate, and blend it together till the entire batter is free of lumps.
  7. After this, fetch your cute baking dishes, pour the batter into them, and prop them into the oven for 13 to 16 minutes.
  8. When your irresistible lava cake is done, it will look set around the sides but fudgy and soft at the center.
  9. You can garnish it with some cream or powdered sugar, and sink into its chocolaty softness.

Spiced Pear Compote with Puff Pastry:

Ingredients:

  • 501 gm pears
  • 152 gm sugar
  • 22 gm flour
  • 9 gm cinnamon powder
  • 7 gm nutmeg powder
  • 251 ml water
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry

Method:

  1. As with the other recipes, this one will also require preheating the oven to 200°C.
  2. As you begin to prepare your ingredients, the first step will be to mix the flour, sugar, chopped pears, cinnamon, and nutmeg together.
  3. After this, you have to take the mixture in a big bowl and let it simmer over medium heat so that the fruit becomes soft and the liquid around it becomes a little slurry.
  4. When you see that the pears have softened, pour water, add a pinch of salt, and mix everything well.
  5. Next, you are going to take the ready-made puff pastry and press it out evenly, dusting it with some flour as you roll it down to a thickness of about 5 mm.
  6. After this step, you have to pour the pear compote into a microwave-safe dish and cover it with the puff pastry until it is completely wrapped.
  7. Put this into the oven, and let it bake for around 30 to 35 minutes.
  8. When your dessert is ready, you can take a call to serve it as it is or garnish it with a slight bit of complementary flavored ice cream. If you want something warm, then you can add a bit of warm maple syrup to it and enjoy!

This time, when the winter cheer sets in the air, you will be ready with your abundance of homemade desserts that are sure to impress guests during the festive season or are perfect just for a solo date, while you sink into the armchair and pamper yourself with the sweet delectables.
