Combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, and butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Keep stirring the mixture until it starts to boil and the sugar completely dissolves.
Slowly incorporate the dry mixture into the saucepan, making sure to stir constantly until a smooth and thick dough is formed.
Divide the dough into three equal parts. Leave one part white, color one part with yellow food coloring, and the other with orange.
1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup light corn syrup
½ cup unsalted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 ½ cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup powdered milk
Food coloring (yellow and orange)
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
Whisk together powdered sugar and powdered milk in a separate bowl.
Take a small piece from each of the different colored doughs and gently roll them into thin ropes. Carefully bring the three ropes together and shape them into a lovely triangle, just like a delicious candy corn.
Place the candy corn-shaped pieces on parchment paper and let them set for at least an hour. Cut the large triangle into smaller candy-sized pieces. Your homemade candy corn is ready to be served as a delightful Thanksgiving treat
