2 cups whole wheat flour
Water for kneading
Pinch of salt
Oil for deep frying
1 cup sooji (semolina)
½ cup ghee
¾ cup sugar
2 cups water
¼ tsp cardamom powder
Add water to flour to make a soft dough. Roll it into small discs.
Heat up oil in a pan and fry the puris until they are golden brown and puffed up. Keep on a paper to drain oil.
Combine sugar and water, heat up and stir until sugar dissolves and syrup becomes thick.
Roast sooji in a pan with some ghee until golden and aromatic.
Add the prepared sugar syrup slowly to the sooji and stir. Continue stirring on medium flame until it becomes thick.
Flavor the halwa with cardamom and dry fruits. Serve with prepared puris.
