1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup (120ml) milk
1 large egg
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup (25g) cocoa powder
1/4 cup (60ml) boiling water
1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup (60ml) milk
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare an 8-inch round cake pan by greasing and lining it with parchment paper.
Make the vanilla batter by whisking flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and softened butter sugar, eggs, and vanilla in another bowl. Combine them together alternating with milk.
Make chocolate batter by mixing cocoa powder and boiling water in one bowl and softened butter and sugar in another bowl. Add milk and combine well.
Add flour, baking powder, and salt to the chocolate mixture and mix until smooth.
Layer both the batters by alternating drops of vanilla and chocolate batter in a greased pan. Use a knife to create ripples and swirls.
Bake the cake for 25-30 minutes, check with a toothpick, and take it out. Let it cool down then serve.
