The fondant needs to be soft and pliable so it won't look dry and stiff.
To prevent sticking
dust some cornstarch or powdered sugar between fondant layers.
Use tools like cookie cutter
fondant shaper
and a good knife to make the fondant shapes perfect.
To fill the gaps between different fondant layers
wet your fingers to smoothen and blend the fondant.
If the fondant decoration is taking too long that the fondant is starting to dry
spray some water on it to prevent it from drying out.
