2 cups shredded coconut
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and grease with butter.
Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and heat it to make a thick and moldable sugar syrup.
Once the sugar syrup is ready, reduce the heat and add shredded coconut, condensed milk, and butter. Mix well and cook for 10 minutes.
Drop the spoonfuls of mixture to a greased baking sheet while it's still hot and let them cool at room temperature.
Once it's hard, serve cocada candy or store it in an airtight container for up to a week.
