How To Make Cocada: A Sweet And Chewy Brazilian Coconut Treat

Ingredients

2 cups shredded coconut
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Prepare Baking Sheet

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and grease with butter.

Cook Sugar Syrup

Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and heat it to make a thick and moldable sugar syrup.

Add Coconut and Condensed Milk

Once the sugar syrup is ready, reduce the heat and add shredded coconut, condensed milk, and butter. Mix well and cook for 10 minutes.

Shape Cocada

Drop the spoonfuls of mixture to a greased baking sheet while it's still hot and let them cool at room temperature.

Serve

Once it's hard, serve cocada candy or store it in an airtight container for up to a week.
