How To Make Doce: A Festive Goan Sweet Made With Chana Dal And Coconut

Ingredients

1 cup cooked and mashed chana dal
1 cup grated coconut
1 cup sugar
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
1 tbsp ghee
1/4 cup water

Prepare The Mixture

Add the mashed chana dal, sugar, and water to heated ghee in a pan. Allow to thicken, stirring occasionally.

Add Coconut

Stir in the cardamom powder and the shredded coconut. The mixture will begin to peel away from the pan if you keep cooking it.

Set

Pinch down to flatten the mixture after transferring it to a tray that has been oiled.

Cool And Cut

Allow to cool before slicing into pieces.
