How To Make Traditional Malpua For Dhanteras

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour or wheat flour
2 tablespoons semolina
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup yogurt
2 tablespoons sugar
Ghee or oil for frying
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder

Prepare the Batter

Mix flour, semolina, yogurt and sugar in a bowl. Add milk to make pancake batter. Let rest.

Make Sugar Syrup

Add sugar and water and heat up to make slightly thick sugar syrup. Flavor with cardamom powder.

Fry Malpua

Heat ghee or oil in a pan and ladle the batter and spread out like small disc. Cook from both sides until golden brown and crispy.

Dip in Sugar Syrup

Dip fried malpua in sugar syrup and soak for a minute. Transfer on a plate and garnish with roasted nuts.
