1 cup whole wheat flour
½ cup jaggery
1 ripe banana (mashed)
½ teaspoon cardamom powder
1 tablespoon roasted sesame seeds
1 pinch of salt
½ teaspoon baking soda (optional)
Water (as needed)
Ghee or coconut oil (for frying)
Combine whole wheat flour, melted jaggery, mashed banana, and cardamom powder. Add grated coconut and sesame seeds, then pour in water to make smooth batter.
Let the batter rest for 30 minutes to enhance the flavor and texture.
Heat the paniaram pan and grease with ghee.
Pour batter in each hole and cook appam from all sides. Turn with a fork or skewer. Once cooked evenly, serve brown.
