- 113 gm butter
- A pinch of salt
For the cream cheese filling:
- 901 gm cream cheese
- 452 gm sugar
- 3 eggs
- 4 tsp vanilla extract
- 251 gm sour cream
For the apple filling:
- 502 gm sliced apples
- 103 gm sugar
- 4 tbsp flour
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- A pinch of salt
- 61 ml butter
For the top crumb:
- 152 gm oats
- 103 gm sugar
- 54 gm flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- A pinch of salt
- 111 gm butter
Method:
- First, you have to preheat your oven to 180°C.
- Next, combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar and salt until they are well mixed.
- Then, you will add in melted butter, and mix until the crumbs are properly moistened.
- Next, you have to press the mixture into the bottom of a springform pan, bake the crust for 10 minutes, and then let it cool down properly.
- Now, you can pour the rest of the cheesecake ingredients into a large-sized mixing bowl, and beat until it is one smooth homogenous mix.
- Then, you have to gradually add sugar, and beat on until all the ingredients blend well.
- You can add eggs, one at a time, and mix, followed by vanilla extract.
- After that, you have to whisk together sour cream and a pinch of salt.
- Then, you need to beat the sour cream mixture into the cream cheese mixture until the concoction is smooth.
- You can pour the cheesecake batter over the crust in the prepared pan, smooth the top and bake for about 55 to 60 minutes.
- Now, mix sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt together in a large bowl, and toss them until they are well coated with the dry ingredients.
- After that, you can mix together rolled oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt, in a large bowl, and combine the ingredients.
- You will add cold butter and mix until there is an even mixture of crumbs.
- Next, you have to assemble the cheesecake. For that, you will layer the apple filling over the baked cheesecake.
- After that, you will sprinkle the crumble topping over the top of the apple filling.
- Then, you have to bake the cheesecake for an additional 25 to 30 minutes.
- Now, you have to remove the cheesecake from the oven, let it cool for an hour in the pan, and then cool it completely on a wire rack.
- Then, after you have let the cheesecake cool down adequately, you will put it inside the refrigerator at least for 5 hours or overnight.
- Finally, you can slice it, place the slices on a plate, and serve with some fresh cream.
In order to make sure your apple crumb cheesecake comes out to be of a smooth and creamy consistency, you need to beat the cream cheese until it is smooth and cream. You can also add a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a handful of chopped nuts into the batter to introduce a different dimension of flavor and texture. To make your cheesecake look even more professional, top it with a dollop of whipped cream dusted with cinnamon sugar or lemon rind sugar. You can make this lemon zest sugar by simply grating lemon zest, slowly dehydrating it in the oven overnight, and mix this powder with caster sugar manually, before giving everything a good mix in a food processor. You can make flavored sugar dust with any zesty fruit, be it orange or sweet lime, by using the same method.
