Christmas is one of the most awaited festivals all over the world. Celebrated on December 25, it is all about meeting your loved ones, decorating houses, exchanging gifts and taking a dive into various festive dishes. You can prepare any of your favorite dishes for the main course, but everyone’s eyes are on the desserts lying on the dinner table.
They are the showstopper of the Christmas feast. However, when it comes to deciding flavor, chocolate is always our top preference for desserts. Be it cakes, pudding or any other sweet treat, we make sure to have at least one chocolate-based dish on the table. Since it is Christmas, the decorations on the top of the desserts also play a very important role in giving them a festive look. Many people use green and red colors while frosting or icing to give them a Christmas-y appearance.
So, if you are also looking for some Christmas themed dessert to prepare this year, here are three exciting recipes for you:
Moist Chocolate Cake
Chocolate cakes are always in high demand during festivities. The rich and irresistible taste of this sweet treat is loved by both children and adults. Made with the flavor of unsweetened cocoa powder and hot coffee, moist chocolate cake is a perfect dessert for your holiday dinner that can leave you drooling.
Ingredients
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- Cadbury Baking Dark Chocolate Melts
- 1 ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¾ tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot coffee
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Grease and flour two 9-inch baking pans and line them with parchment paper.
- In the mixing bowl of a mixer, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt for a minute.
- Then add eggs, buttermilk, butter, dark chocolate and vanilla extract and beat again until batter forms (it will take about 30 seconds). Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl and beat 15 seconds more, until mixture is mostly smooth.
- Remove the bowl from the mixer and pour hot coffee into it. Place batter evenly between the two pans and bake on the middle rack of the oven for 25-35 minutes. Let it cool for 15 minutes in pans, then run a knife around the edges of each cake.
- Line two cooling racks with parchment circles. Place one rack over top of each pan. Using both hands to hold the racks, place while flipping the cakes over onto the cooling racks.
- Set them down and gently thump on the bottom of the pans until the cakes release. Allow the cake to cool completely and decorate according to your choice.
