If you’re a student or a working professional then you know how important the microwave is. You can use it to heat meals, make warm beverages, cook instant ramen, and even poach eggs. Have you ever tried making a full-blown dessert in the microwave? Well, here are some recipes to try. 

Banana Pudding

Ingredients:

  • 7 tbsp flour 
  • A ripe banana
  • Half an egg
  • 3-4 tbsp melted butter 
  • 4 tbsp light muscovado sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon 
  • 1-2 tbsp milk
  • Ice cream for serving

Instructions:

  • Melt the butter, then mash half of the banana in a mug or bowl. 
  • Then add half an egg, sugar, milk, cinnamon, and flour. Use a whisk to mix everything together. 
  • Slice the rest of the banana and place it on the top. 
  • Cook in the microwave for about 6 to 8 minutes. 
  • Enjoy it warm with a scoop of ice cream.  

Chocolate Cornflakes Cups

Ingredients:

  • 100 gm Cadbury Bournville 50% Dark Chocolate Bar broken into big chunks
  • 100 gm cornflakes
  • 59 gm butter
  • 3 tbsp golden syrup

Instructions:

  • Melt the sugar, butter, and golden syrup in a microwave safe bowl. Do this in intervals of 39 seconds. 
  • Mix well to ensure that all of the chocolate is incorporated. 
  • Let it cool slightly before adding the cornflakes. 
  • Pour this mixture into cupcake molds, and let them sit in the fridge for half an hour. 
  • Microwave Fudge

Ingredients:

  • 225 gm chocolate chips 
  • 120 ml condensed milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract 
  • 60 gm chopped walnuts

Instructions:

  • Microwave the ingredients minus the walnuts in a heatproof bowl. 
  • Mix well to incorporate the chocolate chips into the condensed milk. 
  • Once the batter has slightly cooled, add the vanilla extract and the chopped walnuts.
  • Transfer this into a foil lined dish and let it refrigerate until solid. 
  • Then cut into squares and enjoy. 

Strawberry Shortcake Mug Cake

Ingredients:

  • 5 tbsp flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 60 ml milk
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 6 tsp sugar
  • 4 strawberries
  • Whipped cream for topping 

Instructions:

  • Cut the strawberries into chunks and toss them in 2 tsp sugar. Stir to dissolve all of the sugar then set aside. 
  • Melt the butter in a microwave safe mug then add all of the other ingredients and mix well. 
  • Microwave for a minute and 15 seconds. 
  • Flip the cake onto a serving dish and slice it in half. Cover both sliced with whipped cream and top the bottom with half of the sugar marinated strawberries. 
  • Then sandwich the two slices together and top with the remaining strawberries. 

Microwave Cookie for One

Ingredients:

  • 60 gm flour
  • 1 tbsp Cadbury Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp room temperature butter
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅛ tsp baking soda
  • Chocolate chips for topping 

Instructions:

  • Mix the softened butter and sugar into a bowl. Then add the vanilla extract. 
  • Next, add the dry ingredients and a handful of chocolate chips. 
  • Grease your hands, roll this dough into a cookie then flatten it into a microwave-safe plate. 
  • Put it in the fridge first for 15 minutes then into the microwave for a minute. 
  • Let it cool and harden a little before digging in.
