The humble waffle maker, often limited to breakfast, has endless potential as a kitchen gadget capable of creating indulgent and innovative desserts. Beyond the traditional waffles, the appliance can be used for a variety of other dishes, creating innovative sweet treats. From brownies to waffle cones, the possibilities are as vast as your imagination and creativity. So, dust your waffle maker and embark on a culinary adventure that will lead to much delight. Here are just a few such ideas, to get you started.

Waffled Brownies

Elevate the classic chocolate brownies by pouring the batter into your waffle maker instead of a baking pan.The result will be a treat that’s crispy on the outside and fudgy on the inside. The dark brown color will be shiny and welcoming. Stack the brownie waffles on top of each other and garnish them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of warm chocolate sauce.

Waffled Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are delightful, creamy treats, a fun choice to experiment with. Roll out the cinnamon roll dough, spread a mixture of cinnamon, sugar, and butter on it, and then neatly roll it up. Slice it into small rolls and place them in the waffle maker. As they cook, the waffled cinnamon rolls become golden and caramelized on the outside while staying soft on the inside. Add a generous dollop of cream cheese on top, and let it seep into the freshly removed, hot waffled rolls.

Waffled Cheesecake

Cheesecake is a classic that allows for a lot of experimentation and variation. One such wonder is creating a waffled cheesecake. Simply create a cheesecake batter and pour it into the waffle maker. Don't bother with a crust for this one, the waffle iron will give the cheesecake a delightful crispness while the center is creamy and smooth. To serve, top it with fresh berries and/or a dollop of whipped cream.

Waffle Cone Sundaes

Why spend on ice cream cones when you can make your own waffle cones at home? Simply prepare a thin batter and pour it onto the waffle maker. Once it’s cooked, quickly shape the hot waffle into a cone;handle with care and make sure you don't burn yourself. Once cooled and crisp, fill your waffled cones with ice cream, chocolate or some other sauces, chopped nuts, and mixed sprinkles, creating your own personal take on the loveable sundar.

Waffled Doughnuts

Using your waffle maker, create donuts that aren’t deep fried, essentially being a healthier option. Don’t worry, we can assure you that they’ll still be as delicious. Just pour the donut batter into the waffle maker and let it cook until it's golden brown. Once ready, and while it's still hot, sprinkle on cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar or a chocolate glaze. Then top however you want, depending on the flavor palette you're going with.

Waffled Cookies

Prepare your favorite cookie dough, break out small balls and flatten them slightly; then pop them into the waffle maker. Cook until the batter has turned into golden brown waffles and is nice and crunchy. Depending on the flavor of the dough, from chocolate chip to oats cookies and snickerdoodle, top your waffled cookies with a corresponding sauce drizzle. Just because they’re shaped differently doesn't mean they're not cookies. So make sure to treat them right by dunking them in warm milk while eating.

Waffled Ice Cream Sandwich

A crowd favorite dessert to make is an ice cream sandwich. Instead of normal cookies, sandwich the ice cream in between waffled cookies. Simply cut the waffles diagonally into equal sized triangles, chop off a slab of ice cream in the same shape and place it on the waffled cookie, and top it with another piece of the waffled cookie. The squares made by the waffle can be topped with a nice chocolate sauce to complement the vanilla ice cream inside.

Waffle Cake

This is a treat that’s as indulgent as waffles can get. Make 4 big, round waffles. Place one at the bottom, then add a generous layer of a frosting of your choice, then add the next waffle and so on. Continue till all 4 waffles are stacked, and then cover the sides of the cake with more frosting. Instead of covering the top with frosting too, place berries, chocolate chips and other delights in its squares.
