It is made by heating and liquefying sugar and then spinning until the sugary confection re-solidifies. Today you can find numerous flavors of cotton candy such as chocolate, vanilla and fruits. But if you are looking for some non-traditional way to celebrate the National Cotton Candy Day, here are three unique recipes for you:
Cotton Candy Oreo Truffles
Cotton candy Oreo truffle is a perfect dessert for every season. They are light, airy and also easy to prepare. All you have to do is combine the Oreo cookies with some cream cheese and cotton candy and your beautiful and yummy truffles are ready.
Ingredients
For the truffles
- 15 Cotton Candy flavored Oreo cookies
- 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
- For the coating
- 16 oz. vanilla candy coating
- 1 packet cotton candy flavor mix
For toppings
- Sprinkles
Method
For the truffles
- Crush the cookies in a food processor until they are powdered like consistency.
- In a mixing bowl, properly combine the crushed cookies and cream cheese.
- Then with a scoop, measure 30 mounds of the mixture and place them on a parchment paper lined air-tight container.
- Refrigerate the container for at least 1 hour to set.
For the coating
- After the truffles are set, melt candy coating in the microwave.
- Add in the packet of flavor mix and stir until fully combined.
- Remove truffle balls from the freezer and dip them into the coating mixture immediately.
- Once fully covered, remove the balls and place them on wax paper until the truffle hardens.
- Store in the refrigerator and enjoy.
Cotton Candy Cupcakes
More than the taste, the presentation style of the cupcakes attracts us. When prepared along with cotton candy, this dessert is a perfect fairytale treat. These soft and fluffy treats will surely win the heart of your kid.
Ingredients
- 12 vanilla cupcakes
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 4 cups sugar
- 3-4 tbsp milk
- 1 drop red gel food coloring
- 1 drop blue gel food coloring
- 12 toothpicks
- 2-3 oz. white fondant
- Cotton candy (blue and pink)
Method
- For frosting, beat together butter, sugar and milk using an electric mixer until smooth.
- Divide the buttercream into two parts and color one of them in red and the other in blue. Mix until completely tinted.
- Scoop the buttercream into a piping bag and frost the cupcakes. Wrap each toothpick with a little bit of fondant then place a generous amount of cotton candy on each stick. Finally insert into the cupcake and enjoy.
Cotton Candy Fudge
A cotton candy fudge can never go wrong. Combined with your favorite ingredients like marshmallows, chocolate chips, butter and sugar, this treat can be easily stored for up to three weeks in the refrigerator. It is also an ideal dessert for your kid’s birthday party.
Ingredients
- 24 oz white chocolate bark
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
- Cotton candy extract
- blue food coloring gel
- pink food coloring gel
Method
- Prepare an 8x8-inch pan by lining it with parchment paper.
- Place white bark in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 30 seconds, stirring occasionally until it is completely melted.
- Add condensed milk and cotton candy flavoring to it. Split your mixture into two different bowls.
- Add a small amount of blue food coloring to one bowl and pink to the other one.
- Add a few scoops of each color randomly to the prepared pan. With the help of a toothpick swirl the colors together to create a marbled look.
- Refrigerate the fudge for 2 hours and cut it into pieces and enjoy.
