These ‘Breaking Bad’ Inspired Desserts Are Easy to Make Homage to the Iconic Show

While the show is over, its story lives on. The excitement and drama around Breaking Bad continue to captivate new audiences everyday. Celebrate the show with these desserts.

Breaking Bad is one of those cult classic shows that has a loyal following. The story of a financially pressured chemistry teacher who turns to cooking meth to make more money enthralled audiences right up to the last episode. The show expertly handled very sensitive topics and created brilliant character arcs for them all.

So if you're planning a themed party, remember to serve your beverages in beakers used in labs, and shots in syringes resting in shot glasses. Add the theme music in the background. And get to doing your own experiments in the kitchen to create these Breaking Bad inspired desserts.

Blue Candy

Imitate Walter White’s famous, almost transparent blue meth by making blue rock candy. It can be crushed unevenly and served on its own or even work as a topping for other Breaking Bad themed desserts, like cupcakes and cakes. Try to get the color and transparency as close as possible to what walter cookson the show.

Heisenberg Cupcakes

The silhouette of the hat, sunglasses and beard are now an iconic part of the show’s afterlife, and this dessert allows you to recall it at your party. Bake white vanilla cupcakes, blue blueberry cupcakes, or swirl both together and bake those cupcakes. Top it with a blue frosting representing the infamous blue meth. And then add a hat and sunglasses made of marzipan on each cupcake, in a hat tip Heisenberg’s look when dealing with the wild wild west.

Los Pollos Hermanos Cookies

The Los Pollos Hermanos outlets play a big part in Gus Fring’s dealings, as is eventually revealed in the show. They also signal that the Walter-Jesse duo are moving on to more organized crime on a much larger scale. Mark this transition by making sugar cookies using a chicken shaped mold, recalling the famous chicken of Fring’s brand. Add yellow and red icing, imitating the fast food chain’s logo.

Gus Fring’s Face Cake

This one is a bit eerie and you might want to skip it if there’s going to be younger people at the gathering where you’re serving these desserts. It’s a reference to Gus’s half-burnt off face when he walks out right after the explosion. Bake a rectangular cake, use edible ink to print his face on the cake, and then cover half of it with red frosting, imitating the blood. Make a big hole where his eye should have been.

Better Call Saul Cake

This cake is a hat tip to the shrewd lawyer who later got his own show. Make a cake and top it with marzipan made phones, briefcases, the scales of justice and other such symbols. With icing, add famous quotes like "Don't Drink and Drive, But When You Do, Call Saul,” and “Ready For This? Here Goes: You Two Suck At Peddling Meth. Period.”

Breaking Bad Logo Cake

Bake a rectangular white cake and prepare green icing, and simply recreate the periodic table inspired logo of the show on the cake. Or, take the logo as a starting point but actually write different words, like “Happy Birthday” with the Ha and Bi in the green boxes, or whatever other message you want to convey. Try to get as close to the font of the logo or use a stencil for a cleaner look.

Hector Salamanca Bell Cookies

Reference one of the show’s most iconic characters that we all wish had more of a backstory and screen time, by making the famous bell he dings to get his point across. Buy a bell shaped mold and make sugar cookies, covering them with gold icing. As a party game, you can also place an actual bell there, which guests must ring everytime they take a cookie!

Jane Cake

All of us felt the shock and tragedy at Jane’s heroin overdose. It was the moment Walter’s character became irrevocably evil and selfish. Bake a cake as an ode to Jane, her untimely death, and the larger tragedy that follows as a result of her distracted father. Bake a white cake and top it with black icing, reminiscent of her straight hair. Add the silhouette of a cigarette with the icing near where her lips would be placed to complete the cake.
