Dairy Milk is so much more than just a chocolate to enjoy on its own. Think of it as an ingredient and suddenly, a world of opportunities opens up. When melted, the smoothness and creamy texture of the chocolate allows for indulgent, decadent desserts. From comforting classics to innovative gourmet desserts, Dairy Milk can sit well within an array of desserts and work well with a variety of other ingredients, always enhancing and complementing the flavors of the other ingredients too.

While being versatile, it also has its own unique taste, which comes through in any dessert and rings with familiarity in one’s mouth. While experimentation in the kitchen is a fun, lifelong process, here are some simple recipes that, beyond the Dairy Milk, require only two other ingredients, to get you started on your culinary journey.

1. Strawberry Bites

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup strawberry yogurt
  • 3 ½ tbsp strawberry jelly
  • 4 tsp chopped Dairy Milk

Directions:

  • In a bowl, combine the yogurt and jelly.
  • Chop the Dairy Milk into tiny pieces and add to the above mixture. Stir until completely mixed.
  • Using a spoon, put dollops of the mixture onto a lined baking sheet.
  • Add toothpicks or popsicle sticks if desired.
  • Pop in the freezer until solid. Remove from the tray and serve immediately.
  • Store in the freezer in an airtight container.

2. Chocolate Orange

Ingredients

  • 4 oranges or 4 mandarins or 12 grapefruits
  • 1 bar Dairy Milk
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil

Directions:

  • Peel the fruit, separate into wedges (depending on which fruit you’re using), and lay on tissue to soak out any excess moisture.
  • Chop the Dairy Milk into small pieces.
  • In a bowl, add the chopped chocolate and coconut oil. Pop this in the microwave until it has melted. Stop every 30 seconds to give it a stir and then place it back in the microwave.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Dip half of each fruit piece in the melted chocolate and then lay flat on the baking sheet.
  • Refrigerate the pan so the fruit can cool and chocolate can harden. Wait at least 1 hour before taking it out and serving.

P.S. You can use the same procedure with nuts as well. Replace the fruit with a nut, like walnut, melt chocolate, dip half the walnuts in the melted chocolate and let it set in the fridge for an hour before serving.

3. Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

  • 8 eggs
  • 1 bar of Dairy Milk, chopped
  • 1 cup unsalted butter

Directions:

  • Preheat the oven. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Beat the eggs at high speed until the volume doubles.
  • Melt the chopped chocolate and butter together in a bowl, placed on the stove in a double boiler, or put in a microwave and remove it to stir every 30 seconds. Do not overheat. The chocolate should just about melt.
  • Fold a third of the beaten eggs into the chocolate mixture. Slowly add another third, mixing gently. Then the final third. Do not overstir.
  • Transfer the batter onto the baking sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes. Let it cool to room temperature. Then put it in the refrigerator to cool completely.
  • Remove from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before it’s time to serve. Add any toppings of your choice, from powdered sugar to berries and frosting.

4. Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups whipped cream
  • 1 bar Dairy Milk
  • ½ cup powdered sugar

Directions:

  • In a bowl, whip the cream until frothy and thick.
  • Melt the Dairy Milk on the stove using a double boiler. Or put it in the microwave, stirring every 30-40 seconds.
  • Add the melted chocolate and sugar to the cream. Mix carefully until soft peaks appear. Keep whipping until there are stiff peaks.
  • Transfer into a plastic bag or piping bag with a tip. Pipe into mini bowls or glasses that you’re using to serve.
  • Serve immediately or refrigerate until you’re ready to serve.

5. Chocolate Date Bars

Ingredients:

  • 12 dates
  • 1 ½ cups mixed nuts
  • 1 bar Dairy Milk

Directions:

  • Pit the dates, soak them for 5 minutes, and then drain the water out.
  • Process the dates and nuts until a sticky mixture forms. Transfer onto a pan and press evenly.
  • Melt the chocolate and pour over the date and nuts mixture.
  • Place the pan in the freezer for 10 minutes to let it set.
  • Bring out, slice into bars, and serve cold.
