Dark chocolate, with its rich, velvety texture and deep, slightly bitter note is often the ultimate indulgence for many chocolate connoisseurs. But even if you enjoy pure dark chocolate – in the form of a bar, these dark chocolate dessert recipes celebrate the intensity of its primary ingredient with such gusto that you'd want to devour these dishes right away. These are good for all kinds of fancy occasions, birthday parties, gatherings, picnics and lunches, and even go great as housewarming gifts for your close ones.
Dark Chocolate Panna Cotta
Ingredients:
- 210 gm Cadbury Bournville dark chocolate
- 320 ml heavy cream
- 135 gm caster sugar
- 3 tsp vanilla extract
Method:
- In a bowl that has been chilled in the refrigerator for half an hour, whip heavy cream, caster sugar, and vanilla together.
- Then, pour the concoction into individual cups and let the cups chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
- Just before you are about to take the cups out of the refrigerator, break the bar of dark chocolate into pieces and melt them using the double boiler method.
- Drizzle the melted dark chocolate over the panna cotta before serving.
This dessert can be served as it is or you can add some caramelized sugar or icing sugar on top. To boost the pure dark chocolate flavor even more, decorate the panna cotta with flowers made with chocolate shavings.
Dark Chocolate and Hazelnut Cookies
Ingredients:
- 195 gm Cadbury Bournville dark chocolate
- 235 gm wheat flour
- 105 gm salted butter
- 54 gm granulated sugar
- 100 gm toasted hazelnuts meal
Method:
- Start by whisking flour, butter, granulated sugar, and hazelnut meal together.
- When the mixture starts to come into a dough form, you need to start kneading with your fingers.
- Once the dough is kneaded, scoop large tablespoons worth of dough onto a baking tray sprayed with cooking oil. Place them in rows with a 1-inch gap between each.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 10-12 minutes.
- Melt dark chocolate in a double boiler or the microwave.
- Then, dip the cookies into the molten chocolate, and wait for the chocolate coating to harden before serving.
Dark Chocolate Fondant
Ingredients:
- 245 gm Cadbury Bournville dark chocolate
- 120 gm caster sugar
- 120 ml whole milk
- 3 egg yolks
Method:
- You have to first melt the dark chocolate by whichever method you prefer, double boiling or microwave.
- Then, whisk granulated sugar, whole milk, and egg yolks together in a medium-sized bowl.
- You have to fold the melted chocolate into the sugar mixture.
- Then, you need to pour the batter into individual baking bowls.
- Next, you are going to bake them at 200°C for 12-15 minutes.
- Once they are out of the oven, you can drizzle with some dark chocolate sauce made by dissolving 2 parts of pure dark chocolate in 3 parts cream, and serve.
Chocolate and Strawberry Tart
Ingredients:
- 200 gm Cadbury Bournville dark chocolate
- 250 gm plain flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 103 gm salted butter
- 204 gm strawberry jam
- Whole strawberries (for garnish)
Method:
- You have to start by kneading flour, baking soda and unsalted butter together they are well combined into a pliable dough.
- Roll out the dough into a sheet of 1 cm thickness, then cut out rectangles that are bigger than the size of your tart moulds. Press the rectangles carefully into the moulds and snip off the excess dough.
- Brush the tart shells with a salted egg yolk wash and blind bake them in the oven for 25-30 minutes at 180°C. You can add a few drops of vanilla essence into the egg wash to take down the eggy smell.
- Once they are light golden in color and crispy on the edges, take them out of the oven and add the strawberry jam into the tart cavity.
- Melt the dark chocolate on the side, and once it comes down to room temperature, drizzle the tart with the chocolate.
- Dip your strawberries into the melted chocolate and wait for it to harden. Then, add a dollop of whipped cream on top of the tart, and a chocolate coated strawberry, and serve.
You can try different types of dark chocolate to get various flavour intensities. For a fun twist, you can throw in some nuts or fruit to create interesting textures.
