You’d be surprised how handy the microwave is when you want to make Indian desserts but without spending too much time slogging hard in the kitchen. End any meal with any of these mouth-watering, microwave-friendly best Indian dessert recipes. You may be cutting down on the cooking time and effort here, but without compromising on quality. 

Golpapdi

Ingredients:

  • 60 g wheat flour 
  • 4 tbsp ghee + extra for greasing
  • 5 tbsp grated jaggery
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder
  • ¼ tsp poppy seeds

Instructions:

  • Grease a thali’s bottom and sides with some ghee then evenly sprinkle poppy seeds on the bottom. 
  • Combine ghee and wheat flour in a microwave safe bowl then microwave for 3 minutes and 30 seconds. 
  • Mix well, then add cardamom powder and grated jaggery. 
  • Transfer this mixture into the greased thali and spread it evenly. You can use a spatula or your hands to do this. 
  • Once the ghee has solidified, then cut into diamond-shaped squares and enjoy. 

Ricotta Cheese Kalakand

Ingredients:

  • 120 gm ricotta cheese
  • 60 ml condensed milk
  • 1/8 tsp cardamom powder
  • 5 almonds
  • 5 pistachios 
  • Ghee for greasing

Instructions:

  • Toast the almonds and pistachios on a dry pan, let them cool, and then coarsely crush them. Set aside. 
  • Mix ricotta cheese, condensed milk, and cardamom powder in a microwave-safe bowl. 
  • Microwave in 1 minute intervals and give this a good mix every time. Do this about 4-5 times or until the ricotta and condensed milk mixture seems grainy. 
  • Transfer into a ghee greased thali and garnish with the almond and pistachio powder. 
  • Allow the kalakand to cool for about half an hour, then cut into squares or diamonds. 
  • Microwave Peda

Ingredients:

  • 400 ml condensed milk
  • 150 gm milk powder
  • 100 gm room temperature unsalted butter
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder 
  • 3 tsp ghee
  • A pinch of saffron strands 

Instructions: 

  • Take the softened unsalted butter and add condensed milk to it, followed by milk powder, and a pinch of saffron. 
  • Microwave for a minute and then mix well. The microwave for a minute again and mix again. 
  • Finally, microwave for two minutes and give it a good mix. 
  • After these steps you will notice that the color of the batter is darker.
  • Let the batter sit for a while and come to room temperature. 
  • Grease your palms with ghee, scoop out some of the cooled batter and roll into a round, peda shape. 
  • Repeat till you run out of all the batter. 
  • Decorate every piece with chopped pistachios if you want. 

Microwave Gajar Halwa

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg grated carrots
  • 400 ml condensed milk
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder 
  • 5-6 blanched almonds, peeled and crushed
  • 8-10 raisins 
  • 2 tbsp ghee

Instructions: 

  • Cook the grated carrots and ghee for about 5 minutes, stirring in between rounds for even cooking. 
  • Then add the condensed milk and mix well, and pop in the microwave for 5 more minutes. Stir between rounds again. 
  • Lastly, add the cardamom powder. 
  • If you feel like the halwa is not thick enough, you can cook it in the microwave for another 2 to 3 minutes. 
  • Garnish with blanched and crushed almonds along with raisins.
