Fruit Salad with Rose Water Syrup: A Light & Elegant Eid Dessert

Eid parties are renowned for rich cuisine, scented biryanis, butter kebabs, and spice-filled gravies — so desserts are a compulsory way of concluding the meal. While traditional desserts like sheer khurma, phirni, and seviyan are cherished traditions, adding a new, light dessert can be a balancing act to the menu. A fruit salad with rose water syrup is the perfect alternative, with natural sweetness and fresh fragrance entwined.

On Meethi Eid, sweets rule the day. While syrupy gulab jamun and rich kheer are a given, something light like fruit salad can make your party guests light enough to enjoy dessert. The rose water syrup provides the ideal touch of refinement to the natural taste of the fruits without overdoing it. With its vibrant mix of season fruits, this is a lovely but refreshing addition to your Eid feast. Served chilled, it's an easy but show-stopping dessert that offers a refreshing contrast to rich courses.

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • To serve: salt

  2. Turn off the fire and mix in the rose water into the syrup. Let it cool down entirely. Mix the chopped dates and fruits in a big bowl.
  3. Drizzle the cooled syrup over the fruit and toss to coat evenly. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and serve chilled as a cold dessert.
