Ingredients:

  • 251 gm flour
  • 152 gm sugar
  • 103 gm butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp elaichi
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 121 ml doodh
  • 202 gm butter
  • 403 gm sugar
  • 3 tsp vanilla extract
  • 121 ml milk
  • 202 gm colored sprinkles
  • 103 gm dry fruits

Method:

  1. First, you have to preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Then, you are going to grease and dust three round cake pans and keep them aside.
  3. In a big bowl, you are going to combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder, and whisk them well.
  4. Then, you can add soft butter and work into a crumbly mixture.
  5. In a separate bowl, you have to beat eggs, one by one, and add elaichi powder and vanilla extract to them.
  6. After that, you are going to add the egg mixture to the buttery and crumbly combination and add milk little by little until everything is incorporated.
  7. You have to distribute this cake batter in the prepared pans.
  8. You need to then bake them for around 20-25 minutes.
  9. Once out of the oven, you need to let them cool off properly.
  10. Moving on to the frosting, you need to beat the butter into a smooth consistency.
  11. To that, you have to add some powdered sugar. You need to do this carefully and add the sugar in spoonfuls while beating the mixture continuously.
  12. Next, you are going to beat in some vanilla essence and milk.
  13. Moving on to assembling the cake, you have to start by placing the first cake layer on your serving plate.
  14. You will then spread one layer of buttercream frosting, and place the next layer of the cake.
  15. With the remaining frosting, you are going to cover the entire cake.
  16. Keeping in mind the occasion, you must remember to decorate this cake with some colored sprinkles and chopped dry fruits before serving it to your little guests.

Tips to make your cake even more fun

A cake for children speaks “fun” in every language. To exude the same tone, you can use food coloring to tint it in all their favorite colors. You can also add a thick layer of chocolate ganache to give this cake another level of indulgence and richness. If you choose different types and sizes of cake pans, you will be left with interesting and unique-looking cakes that would be a hit among the kids. If you are feeling particularly traditional, you can infuse authentic Indian flavors like saffron or kewra in this dish.

If the layers of the cake are uneven, you can level them out with a serrated knife. If the buttercream frosting is very thick, you have to add some milk to balance it out a bit. You must also be careful to not over-sweeten the frosting as that will put the main cake flavors off, and can also give a sugar rush to the kids.

While presenting the cake, you can place it on a tiered cake stand. You can also decorate the stand with balloons of different colors. The top of the cake may be accompanied by a special message, making this celebration all the more meaningful.
