Here are some homemade Halloween treat recipes that are quick and easy, and that you can make with kids. Here’s how to celebrate Halloween in India:
Halloween Bark
Ingredients:
- 200 gm white chocolate
- 75 gm dark chocolate
- 1 tsp orange food coloring
- 1 tsp black food coloring
- 70 gm orange, brown, and yellow candies like chocolate coated peanuts, orange and yellow Gems
Instructions:
- Take a silicon baking sheet or like a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Chop the white chocolate into fine shards and then melt in a heatproof bowl. You can also do this step via the double boiler method. Add the chocolate to a heatproof bowl and place it over a pot of simmering water.
- Once the chocolate melts, mix in the orange food coloring and set aside.
- Repeat this step with dark chocolate and add black food coloring to it.
- To make the chocolate bark, pour the white chocolate over the tray first and spread it.
- Drizzle the black colored chocolate over the orange layer, and use a skewer to spread this color around.
- Decorate with the orange, brown, and yellow candies.
- Place the chocolate bark in the fridge to set. Once done, break into shards.
Pumpkin Cheesecake Cookies
Ingredients:
- 180 gm flour
- 1 ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1 ½ tsp cream of tartar
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp flaky salt
- 113 gm softened, unsalted butter
- 52 gm packed light brown sugar
- 137 gm granulated sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 60 gm pumpkin purée
- 170 gm cream cheese
- 67 gm cinnamon sugar
Instructions:
- Whisk flour, pumpkin pie spice, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- Beat butter, brown sugar, and 100 gm granulated sugar until pale and fluffy.
- Then add the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and pumpkin puree into this.
- Finally, add the dry ingredients into the wet ones and mix until well combined.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and then let the cookie dough in the fridge for about an hour. You can also keep the cookie dough in the fridge overnight.
- In a bowl, add the softened cream cheese, and three tablespoons of granulated sugar. Mix until smooth. Cover this bowl with plastic wrap too and refrigerate for a couple of hours.
- Preheat the oven to 177°C and line two baking trays with parchment paper.
- Roll the dough into tablespoon-sized balls and flatten two into disks.
- Spoon about 2 teaspoons of the cheesecake filling onto one disk, then cover with the other.
- Pinch the edges, seal, and roll into a bowl. Remember to do this gently so the filling does not ooze out.
- Place the cinnamon sugar on a shallow plate then roll every cookie in it.
- Put every cookie on the baking sheet and then flatten the cookies.
- Bake the cookies for about 12 to 14 minutes. You will have to rotate the baking trays so that all pieces are evenly cooked.
- Once done, the tops of the cookies will crack. Place them on a wire rack and let them cool.
Halloween Dirt Cups
Ingredients:
- 540 ml whole milk
- 100 gm granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 3 tbsp Cadbury Cocoa Powder
- 143 gm semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 2 tbsp salted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For garnish:
- Gummy worms
- Crushed Oreos
- Gems
- Chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Add 480 ml of milk in a saucepan along with 50 grams of sugar. Bring this to a boil on medium-low heat and then take it off the stove.
- Whisk cornstarch, cocoa powder, 50 grams of sugar, along with 60 ml of milk.
- Add this mixture to the sweetened hot milk and whisk.
- Place the pan back on the stove and continue to stir on low heat. The milk should thicken in about two minutes.
- Strain the pudding through a fine mesh sieve and then mix in the salted butter and the vanilla extract.
- Transfer into serving cups and refrigerate.
- Decorate with gummy worms, crushed Oreos, Gems, and chocolate chips, and serve.
